Spain: Tejerina highlights the advances of the wine sector in competitiveness and sustainability
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina has highlighted the progress made by the Spanish wine sector, "which today is more competitive, transparent and sustainable." García Tejerina, who made these statements during the presentation, on November 14th, of the Promotion Campaign "Marida mejor tu vida con vino", by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional (OIVE), has also highlighted the world leadership of our country in planted area of vineyard.
D.O.P Méntrida shows the potential of its wines to UK distributors
The D.O.P Méntrida, together with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, will celebrate on October 23th, 24th and 25th, at the Hotel Cigarral de Caravantes de Toledo, an Inverse Marketing Mission attended by a total of six distributors from the United Kingdom. The main objective of this event will be to exhibit, once again, the potential of the wines of the DOP Méntrida beyond the Spanish borders. This meeting will strengthen the relations of these importers and will represent a unique opportunity to share experiences on the wines of the DOP Méntrida, to acquire new knowledge and to know successful business projects, all aimed at improving business relations.
The stock level of the current wine year exceeds the average of the last four years, with 33.3Mhl
According to the latest INFOVI (Market Information System for the Wine Sector), the current wine campaign 2017 - 2018 has begun with a stock of wine and must of 33.3 million hectoliters. This is a level of stocks somewhat higher than the average of the last four years, which will contribute to improving the balance of the market in the current campaign, marked by a forecast of low production, both in Spain and in other EU producing countries.
The Interprofessional and the Wine Regulatory Councils will coordinate their activity through a joint committee
The Spanish Wine Interprofessional (OIVE) and the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils (CECRV) have agreed to set up a joint committee composed of representatives of both organizations, which will deal with issues related to appellations of origin of the aims and objectives of the Interprofessional Organization.

AVA-ASAJA warns: “passivity EU against French attacks encourages disenchantment with Europe”

Sherry wines seek a new image
The Control Board of the Designation of Origin (CRDO) of Sherry and Manzanilla are looking for new label for bottles used in all generic promotion activities in an effort to renew the image of these very genuine wines. For this purpose, the CRDO has launched a label design contest to update its image through "Design Crowd", a web services platform global design online.
Spanish wine shines in number and quality in Prowein
ICEX Spain Export and Investors has covered some 200 Spanish wineries to show the diversity of the sector in one of the specialized fairs in the world of wine, which was held from 13 to 15 March in the German city of Dusseldorf. Promotion agencies of autonomous communities of Andalusia (EXTENDA), Castilla-La Mancha (IPEX), Extremadura (AVANTE) and Galicia (IGAPE) have coordinated the participation of companies of the region within the Spanish official pavilion.
