Spain: the deadline for submitting applications for direct aid from the CAP is opened
From February 1st to April 30th, the deadline for the presentation of the single application for direct aid from the PAC is opened. A campaign in which 745,000 producers will be able to apply for such aid, the total amount of which will amount to 4,940 million euros, which can be paid in the form of advances as of October 16th and the balance as of December 1. In the same period, requests for payment of the rural development measures included in the scope of the integrated management and control system and the request for access to the National Reserve of the Basic Payment System may also be submitted.

Spain, France and Portugal will set up a Joint Banana Committee to improve the future of this sector
Spain, France and Portugal will form a Joint Banana Committee that will allow the three countries to work together and on a regular basis to improve the future of their banana sector. This agreement is part of the meeting held by Minister Isabel García Tejerina with her French and Portuguese counterparts, on January 15th in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to discuss the future of agriculture in the outermost regions of the EU.
Spain: approved the measures of the Support Program for the wine sector for the period 2019-2023
The Spanish Government has approved, in the Council of Ministers held on January 12th, the application of the Support Program for the Spanish wine sector for the period 2019-2023. A decision that will make available to the sector measures financed by the EU, with an estimated budget of more than 1,000 million euros. The measures eligible to apply for grants will be wine promotion in third countries, restructuring and reconversion of vineyards, distillation of by-products and investments.
Spain: the MAPAMA authorizes 4,950 ha. for new vineyard plantations in 2018
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment has set at 4,950 hectares the area that may be authorized for applications for new vineyard plantations in 2018, at the national level, according to the resolution of the General Directorate of Agricultural Production and Markets published on December 29th in the BOE. As reported by MAPAMA, this area represents 0.52% of the area currently planted with vineyards, which means maintaining the same growth rate as in the previous season.
FEPEX estimates that the value of Spanish fruit and vegetable exports in 2017 will be € 13,000M
FEPEX expects that the export of fresh fruits and vegetables will be around 13,000 million euros in 2017, with a growth of 3% compared to 2016.
The EC calls for a more flexible, sustainable CAP with greater powers for the EE.MM
The European Commission calls for a more flexible, equitable and sustainable Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) that guarantees the future of agriculture and food, as stated in a communication adopted on November 29th, which outlines the principles that go to allow this common EU policy, the oldest of all, to remain effective in the future.
Spain: Tejerina highlights the advances of the wine sector in competitiveness and sustainability
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina has highlighted the progress made by the Spanish wine sector, "which today is more competitive, transparent and sustainable." García Tejerina, who made these statements during the presentation, on November 14th, of the Promotion Campaign "Marida mejor tu vida con vino", by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional (OIVE), has also highlighted the world leadership of our country in planted area of vineyard.

The event, led by journalist Sandra Sutherland, director and presenter of the TVE program, "Agroesfera", will also feature in its inaugural session with the videoconference intervention of the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan.
