The Galician agri-food sector, of the most represented in FIMA
The 40th International Fair of Agricultural Machinery (FIMA), which takes place in Zaragoza from 20th to 24th February, has recently been presented in Galicia. Precisely, this is a community of strategic importance for this event, since it is one of the regions with the highest representation, with a total of 20 companies participating in this edition.
MAPAMA organizes a tour of the landscapes and flavors of Spain at FITUR
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment participates in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2018, which takes place between January 17th and 21th at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid. The Department has a stand of 360 square meters, located in Hall 9 of the fair, to publicize the wide possibilities offered by the conjunction of National Parks, Biosphere Reserves, Spanish cuisine and Natural Roads, through a tour of the Spanish geography, under the message "Travel through the landscapes and flavors of Spain".
Spain: approved the measures of the Support Program for the wine sector for the period 2019-2023
The Spanish Government has approved, in the Council of Ministers held on January 12th, the application of the Support Program for the Spanish wine sector for the period 2019-2023. A decision that will make available to the sector measures financed by the EU, with an estimated budget of more than 1,000 million euros. The measures eligible to apply for grants will be wine promotion in third countries, restructuring and reconversion of vineyards, distillation of by-products and investments.
The IV National Forum of Rural Development will put the accent on the professionalization of the agri-food sector
The next edition of the International Fair of Agricultural Machinery of Zaragoza (FIMA), which will be held on 19th, 20th and 21th February, will host the IV National Forum of Rural Development, organized by the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Aragon, Navarra and the Basque Country and the National Rural Network, and co-financed through the EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development). The professionalization of the agrifood sector will be the main event in an event whose content is structured in three strategic areas: irrigation, precision agriculture and fertilization and plant protection.
Spain: the MAPAMA authorizes 4,950 ha. for new vineyard plantations in 2018
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment has set at 4,950 hectares the area that may be authorized for applications for new vineyard plantations in 2018, at the national level, according to the resolution of the General Directorate of Agricultural Production and Markets published on December 29th in the BOE. As reported by MAPAMA, this area represents 0.52% of the area currently planted with vineyards, which means maintaining the same growth rate as in the previous season.
The strength of the pig sector and the low price of feed avoid the collapse of the Agrarian Income due to the drought
In its agrarian balance for 2017, COAG, after analyzing the first estimate of Agrarian Income for this year, made by the Ministry of Agriculture, has underlined how the strength of the pork sector and the fall of quotations of feed have prevented the collapse of Agrarian Income due to the severe drought. Also, from this agrarian organization it is noticed that the "macro-data" mask some "micro-benefits".
FEPEX estimates that the value of Spanish fruit and vegetable exports in 2017 will be € 13,000M
FEPEX expects that the export of fresh fruits and vegetables will be around 13,000 million euros in 2017, with a growth of 3% compared to 2016.
FRUIT ATTRACTION and MEAT ATTRACTION have already closed their dates of celebration in 2018
FRUIT ATTRACTION, an international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector, and the second edition of MEAT ATTRACTION, an event aimed at the meat sector, have already closed their dates of celebration for 2018, as reported by the Madrid trade fair institution (IFEMA). Thus, for FRUIT ATTRACTION, the dates finally agreed upon were October 23th, 24th and 25th. For its part, MEAT ATTRACTION will take place from September 18th to 20th.
Spain: new record in turnover of olive exports of the 2016/17 campaign
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA), has published the bulletin of foreign trade of olive oil corresponding to the 2016/17 campaign, which shows a new record of turnover, with a value that exceeds in more than 600 million € the previous campaign.
UPA takes stock of 2017 as a dramatic agrarian year, refuting government figures
The Union of Small Farmers (UPA) has described 2017 as a "dramatic year for the field," due to the drought and inaction that blames the Government, whose macro figures on the sector, highlighting the rise in farm income by 5% for this exercise, they contrast with the negative balance of this agrarian year that the Organization has made.
