    In the last decade Chile has experienced one of the longest droughts of the last 100 years, which has strongly affected important productive areas of the country.

    UPA urges the Government to take urgent measures against a “historic” drought

    The Union of Small Farmers (UPA) has urged the Government of Spain to adopt urgent measures against a drought that qualifies as "historic". The shortage of rains since last autumn has led our country to an emergency situation that however, as denounced by the UPA agrarian organization, is "ignored" by the Government. Farmers and ranchers say they feel "abandoned and surprised" in the absence of a management plan for a crisis of great gravity.

    WWD: Irrigated area increased by 8.7% in 15 years

    On World Water Day, the Technology Platform for Sustainable Agriculture (SEF) adds value irrigated Spanish model as a way to ensure food supplies. Given the growing world population, irrigation has proven to be essential to ensure supplies of staples tool.     The XVI Conference of Iberoamerican Water Directors (CODIA), the main forum on the subject of Latin America, which was held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), has adopted a series of agreements to strengthen the strategic role of CODIA as a platform for training and improving the management of water resources in the region. The next conference will be held in Campeche (Mexico), in the second half of 2016.
