Agricultural Water Summit 2020 to face the water challenge in Chile

In the last decade Chile has experienced one of the longest droughts of the last 100 years, which has strongly affected important productive areas of the country.

Chilean agriculture is the industry with the highest level of consumption of this resource, averaging 82% of agricultural use. However, the current panorama is complex and is not allowing to meet the demands of both the population and the farmers.

Following the above, the Agricultural Water Summit was born. Event organized by Yentzen Group and which seeks to bring the experience that other countries and companies have acquired when facing drought and water scarcity; as well as providing solutions, innovation and technology for the management, preservation and reuse of water in agriculture.

The event will take place on August 26, 2020, at the Conference Center of the Sun Monticello Hotel, located in San Francisco de Mostazal, Chile.

“Never before in the history of our industry has there been such a great need to have an event like the Agricultural Water Summit,” said Gustavo Yentzen, general manager of Yentzen Group.

“Not only in Chile, but throughout the world, we are seeing how the water crisis is affecting our ability to provide healthy and nutritious food for the national and international population,” he said.chile

“I firmly believe that, if there is a solution to the crisis, it will be key for organizations, institutions, producers, exporters, suppliers … that is, all actors come together, share their knowledge and work together towards a common goal,” stressed.

He explained that “it has become clear to me that there are already solutions and innovations in the world for many of the problems that producers face. But what the Agricultural Water Summit will do will be to provide this global knowledge and experience; helping producers to change their situation, with a view to a better future. ”

During the day, technological solutions for the efficient management and use of water will be presented; and in addition, successful cases from countries such as Israel, Australia, South Africa or the US will be addressed. (California) and agricultural companies that have already gone through a similar situation.

This will allow the assistant to obtain a comprehensive and strategic vision regarding the efficient use of this scarce and essential resource for agriculture.

Reception

The initiative has been very well received by the main actors in the sector, who have already joined the event that will contribute to modify the current water scenario in Chile.

Among those who have already decided to support the Agricultural Water Summit is the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture, the National Irrigation Commission (CNR); the Association of Irrigation and Drainage (AGRYD); the Latin American Association of Desalination and Water Reuse (ALADYR); the Reguemos Chile Corporation; Más Recursos Naturales S.A .; Fedefruta, the National Agriculture Society and the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile (Asoex).
