German wine and asparagus arrive in Spain to conquer our palates
GO TO HELL! How many times have you not said or heard that expression? Normally, it is used to remove someone who is bothering from your side. This saying originated in the nineteenth century knowing that this vegetable is cooked with the first boil and to fry it, however, it takes much longer. Germans know little of the Spanish proverb, but they do cook with asparagus since it is one of the pillars of their seasonal cuisine and they are true experts in culinary creation with asparagus. But they go a little further and understand the tasting of this vegetable in perfect marriage with the local wines: to each asparagus their good wine arrives, they would say. Spain: approved the measures of the Support Program for the wine sector for the period 2019-2023
The Spanish Government has approved, in the Council of Ministers held on January 12th, the application of the Support Program for the Spanish wine sector for the period 2019-2023. A decision that will make available to the sector measures financed by the EU, with an estimated budget of more than 1,000 million euros. The measures eligible to apply for grants will be wine promotion in third countries, restructuring and reconversion of vineyards, distillation of by-products and investments.
Commitment to sustainable viticulture in the Priorat region
Europe is committed to a model of sustainable and high quality wine production in the Region of Priorat, through the LIFE PRIORAT + MONTSANT project, which has a budget of 1.5 million euros, co-financed by the European Union. This initiative is led by a Consortium of five entities, led by VITEC (Wine Technological Center) which, together with the Montsant Denomination of Origin, the Designated Priorat Denomination of Origin, the service company for sustainability Lavola 1981 and the Technology Platform will work for the next four years to develop and demonstrate a model of wine production in this Catalan region, based on the sustainable use of resources and that can be subsequently reproduced in other wine regions, Spanish and European.
FENAVIN 2017 opens its doors emphasizing the commitment to internationalization
The ninth edition of the most important wine fair in Spain, FENAVIN, began its journey after an opening ceremony in which it was emphasized the importance of betting on the internationalization of the national wine production, which was attended by Emiliano García Page, president of Castilla-La Mancha, the Minister of Agriculture of this autonomous community, Francisco Martínez Arroyo, the president of the Diputación and FENAVIN, José Manuel Caballero, the mayor of Ciudad Real, Pilar Zamora, and the general secretary of Agriculture and Food of MAPAMA, Carlos Cabanas Godino.
