The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has formally published its final resolution regarding the impact of imports of black olive from Spain on the California producing sector. As it happened in the preliminary ruling of early August of last year, the USITC has affirmatively decided to conclude that imports of Spanish laws cause harm in that sector.
Spain: official estimates of olive production are fulfilled, with more than 1Mt at the end of January
The official estimates of olive production for the 2017/18 season are fulfilled, with a production of almost 1,050,000 tons at the end of January, according to the new olive oil market bulletin published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment. During the month of January, the provisional figures also show an improvement in the exits in the domestic market and in the export with respect to the previous month, with a total of 113,000 tons.

US punishes with tariffs the Spanish export of table olives
The latest measure by the Donald Trump government to protect its agro-food productions to the detriment of international trade has been a severe blow to the Spanish table olive sector, whose exports will be taxed with a tariff. The first reactions to a measure that had been brewing since this summer, when Californian olive-table companies filed a complaint against the Spanish olive, accusing it of unfair competition, have not been delayed. Thus, the Union of Small Farmers and Cattle Ranchers (UPA) urges the EU to express itself immediately and forcefully against this "illegal and unjust" tariff, which will represent a commercial barrier of between 2 and 7%.

II International Forum on Olive Oil and Table Olive
The Institute of Cajasol Studies has organized the Second International Forum on Olive Oil and Table Olives, which will be held on Tuesday, June 14, from 9:00 am., at the headquarters of the Cajasol Foundation, located in Plaza San Francisco, 1 (Sevilla). This initiative responds to the need for continued momentum of two highly dynamic sectors such as table olives, with a clear export character, and olive oil, a product in which Spain leads the ranking of world production and export.
