EU: Hogan advocates prioritizing support for young farmers in the new CAP
The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan, has advocated prioritizing support for young farmers in the new CAP, during the debate on the future of Agriculture and Food, which took place on February 12th in Seville with about a hundred citizens. In this event commemorating the 40th anniversary of ASAJA Sevilla, and held in the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of Seville (FIBES), the MEP of the group of Socialists and Democrats, Clara Aguilera and the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina.

A “tasty” network of reputed restaurants, anteroom of ‘Andalucía Sabor’
A total of 41 restaurants from the eight Andalusian provinces have allied themselves in the Sabor Network, which from September 15th and for a whole month will offer special menus with quality Andalusian products. The Gastronomic Congress Andalucía Sabor, which is held in the framework of the Andalucía Sabor Fair, incorporates as a novelty in 2017 an exhibition area dedicated to the auxiliary industry in the field of gastronomy. In addition, this event, which will take place at the Palacio de Congresos de Sevilla (Fibes) from 25th to 27th September, will also feature for the first time a new space called 'Encounters with the chef', which will give participants the opportunity to have a direct contact with the speakers that make up the program of this sixth edition.
Du Pont Pioneer sponsors the first European sunflower harvest in Seville
The early sowing technique, which Pioneer introduced 20 years ago in Spain in the cultivation of corn, together with the use of the Pioneer P64LC108 hybrid variety, has led to the first sunflower crop of this campaign to have taken place yesterday, 22th June, in the Sevillian town of La Campaña, Seville. A collection that is anticipated at least one month on the usual dates in Andalusia, one of the first areas of Europe to harvest.

Unify criteria, the great challenge in phytosanitary registration

Antonio Vergel: “Without phytosanitaries, agro-food production would be reduced by more than 50%”
Without phytosanitaries, agro-food production would be drastically reduced by up to 50%, and it would be impossible to ensure the food needs of present and future populations, according to Carlos Vergel, president of the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Técnicos Agrícolas (COITAND). During the inagural day of the 14th Symposium on Plant Health, held in Seville from 25th to 27th January. Vergel regretted that a restrictive approach in Community legislation is making it difficult to register and use new products, although plant health is a key part of agricultural production. For its part, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Carmen Ortiz, has ensured that the Andalusian Government is working to promote plant health through aid to the Operational Groups of Innovation.
The 14th Symposium on Plant Protection advocates adapting effectively and efficiently to a new era of change
On 21th November has been presented, in the headquarters of the Andalusian Regional Council of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (CAPDER), the 14th edition of the Symposium on Plant Protection which will take place on 25th, 26th and 27th of January of 2017 in Seville. Under the motto "Towards Change", this event aims to offer the keys to adapt efficiently and effectively to the new scenario of agri-food production, marked by rigid community regulations regarding phytosanitary issues and new challenges and strategies derived from climate change.
