Spain: non-renewal of glyphosate would mean losing € 2.1bn and 5,000 jobs
According to the Socioeconomic Impact Study of Conservation Agriculture and the non-renewal of the authorization of glyphosate in Spain, prepared by the PricewaterhouseCoopers (Pwc) consultancy, to dispense with glyphosate-based herbicides would be a negative economic impact for our country. Would amount to 2,124 million euros, in terms of production, equivalent to 0.10% of National Production. In terms of employment, the losses that would result from the non-renewal of the use of this substance are estimated at about 5,000 jobs.

The EU achieves a principle of agreement that will open Japan to its main agricultural exports
On 6th July, the EU and Japan reached an agreement in principle on the fundamental elements of a future Economic Partnership Treaty, which will be the most important bilateral trade agreement ever concluded by the European Union. Among other issues, this agreement will open the Japanese market to key agricultural exports of the Union, increasing opportunities in various sectors.
The EC extends with € 70M the aid scheme for the Russian veto
From tomorrow, from 1st July to the end of June 2018, the extension of exceptional measures already in place to support producers of perishable fruit affected by the import ban decreed by the Russian authorities enters into force.
Future challenge of the EU budget: to finance more with less resources
The European Commission reopens the debate on the future of EU finances with the publication on 28th June of a reflection paper which explains the difficult challenge facing the future EU budget: financing more with fewer resources, a challenge posed by a a political scenario marked by the Brexit and that forces to reflect on the design of policies in key areas of action such as agriculture or cohesion.
Aguilera calls for legal guarantees for the collective storage of olive oil
Socialist MEP Clara Aguilera has called for greater legal certainty so that the olive oil sector can carry out "collective storage", which involves withdrawing part of the oil from the market when there is overproduction. Aguilera has raised this demand for more legal guarantees during a joint appearance of Agriculture Commissars, Phil Hogan, and Competition, Margrethe Vestager in the Committee on Agriculture of the European Parliament.
ANSEMAT participates in a project to promote the use of intelligent agriculture technologies
The National Association of Agricultural, Forestry and Green Space Machinery (ANSEMAT) participates together with four European partners (the Agricultural University of Athens (Greece), Mad About Pandas (Germany), Inosens (Serbia) and Innovative Initiatives (Spain)) in the European innovation project GATES, acronym of "Applying GAming TEchnologies for training professionals in Smart Farming".
Aguilera calls on the EU to urgently authorize the advance payment of CAP aid in Spain
The Socialist MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee, Clara Aguilera, has urged the European Commission in writing to give a green light to the advance of 70% of CAP aid in Spain.
Commitment to sustainable viticulture in the Priorat region
Europe is committed to a model of sustainable and high quality wine production in the Region of Priorat, through the LIFE PRIORAT + MONTSANT project, which has a budget of 1.5 million euros, co-financed by the European Union. This initiative is led by a Consortium of five entities, led by VITEC (Wine Technological Center) which, together with the Montsant Denomination of Origin, the Designated Priorat Denomination of Origin, the service company for sustainability Lavola 1981 and the Technology Platform will work for the next four years to develop and demonstrate a model of wine production in this Catalan region, based on the sustainable use of resources and that can be subsequently reproduced in other wine regions, Spanish and European.
Inlac initiates a campaign that promotes the consumption of three dairy products per day as the basis of a healthy diet
The Interprofessional Organization that encompasses the entire Spanish dairy sector, Inlac, has presented on 14th June a campaign aimed at improving the knowledge and perception of dairy products, whose consumption, despite being essential elements for a balanced diet, it does not at present reach the necessary amounts for a correct feeding. Through rigorous information, which bases its messages on the work of a Scientific Committee composed of experts of recognized prestige, this initiative seeks to promote among the Spanish population the intake of at least three dairy a day, and has the support the EU and MAPAMA.
