Bolivia: Government boosts Genetic Research on Quinoa
The Government of Bolivia, through the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands and the International Quinoa Center (CIQ), in coordination with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), organized the First International Forum on the cultivation of Quinoa, under the heading "Opportunities and Challenges to the discovery of the quinoa genome". The objective of this initiative is to contribute to the strengthening of the country's quinuero sector.
‘QuinuArroz’ new strategy to encourage the consumption of quinoa in Ecuador
As part of the recent meeting in Quito by the new Andean Network of Quinoa Producers, Ecuador filed on July 13th strategies developed by its public company National Storage Unit to promote the consumption of quinoa in the country. Peru: Organic quinoa Puno and Junin Golden pineapple have their own brand
With the use of the collective trademark of the organic quinoa, "Aynok'a" more than 800 producers from seven organizations in the Puno region, who exported about 400 tons to Europe and the United States will benefit, while the use of the mark "Tibana" benefit the "Piñeros Pangoa Vraem Association", which involves more than 80 producers pangoa district, province of Satipo (Junin), which exported 120 tons mainly Chile and the United States. Peru: Falling prices of quinoa and chia slows grain exports
Foreign sales of Andean grains were down 24% to step back from its demand during the first eight months of the year, reports ADEX. While it expected to rebalance supply and demand, quinoa keeps pushing exports despite reduced their orders by 22% until August. The analysis and the challenges the sector will be made by ADEX in the Andean Grains Convention III on 17 and 18 November in Cusco.
