    UNIÓ denounces the first cases of poisoning of bees by pesticides

    LA UNIÓ de Llauradors has recently denounced the first cases of poisoning of bees that have been detected this year, as a result of the use of pesticides in the flowering of fruit trees, which is usually given from these dates. Thus, in the town of Cheste (Hoya de Buñol), a beekeeper has seen most of his dead bees and beehives practically without activity, which he had installed in a settlement very close to a fruit plantation. He has filed the corresponding complaint with the Civil Guard Barracks of this town of La Hoya de Buñol and now it is the Seprona who investigates the event.

    Spain: Green light from the European Commission to the National Beekeeping Plan (2017-2019)

    The Spanish Beekeeping Plan for the triennium 2017-2019 has already the endorsement of the European Commission in Brussels, following the conclusion of the 183rd meeting of the Management Committee of the Single Common Market Organisation (CMO), in which have been approved 27 aid programs beekeeping presented by the State Members. With this authorization, the Spanish beekeeping sector will receive 16,905,000 euros from EU funds during the years 2017, 2018 and 2019, divided into annual installments of 5,635,000 euros.

    Argentina: alert for presence in Brazil of the hive beetle

    Argentina has declared a state of health alert throughout the country by the presence in apiaries of Sao Paulo (Brazil) of the small hive beetle (PEC). It is a plague of high impact for beekeeping, which has never been detected in this country, so the purpose of this measure is to avoid serious productive and commercial damage that would result from its entrance.
