Spain: AVA ASAJA warns that the agreement with Mercosur threatens the stability of the Valencian rice sector
The vice-president of the rice sector of COPA-COGECA -an entity that brings together the agricultural organizations and the European cooperatives- and leader of AVA-ASAJA, Miguel Minguet, has denounced in Brussels that among the proposals that are being debated these days, in the framework of the negotiations with the Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay), is the importation with a reduced tariff of 45,000 tons of rice. Valencian farmers consider the limitation of plantations for DO Cava to be detrimental to their viticulture

AVA-ASAJA estimates damages in the persimmon amounting to € 10M, after the last frosts
The frosts of the past 4th and 5th of December have caused damages in the cultivation of the persimmon that, according to the first estimations of the Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA), ascend to the 10 million euros. From the agrarian union, a message of tranquility is sent when emphasizing that the greater part of the surface of the cultivation is insured, reason why the producers will be compensated.
AVA-ASAJA and COIAL strengthen their collaboration to promote the development of the Valencian countryside
The Government Board of the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Levante (COIAL) and the executive committee of the Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA) have held a working meeting at the Sinyent agrarian experimentation farm, where they have agreed to close their ties of collaboration to promote the development of the Valencian agricultural system. In this context, COIAL has granted the president of the aforementioned agrarian organization, Cristóbal Aguado, the distinction of Honorary Collegiate, coinciding with the commemoration during this year of the fortieth anniversary of the birth of AVA-ASAJA.
