The largest exclusive international fair for olive oil, the World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE) has closed its seventh edition with an attendance of nearly 700 production companies and almost 4,000 professionals from the olive sector, HORECA, catering, distributors, buyers, brokers and media of more than 30 nationalities (United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Italy or USA). Business, new business opportunities, debate, trends, innovation and networking have been the keys to the success of the WOOE.
The turnover of Granada la Palma increases by 10%, with more than € 153M
The cooperative Granada la Palma, leader in Europe in the production of cherry tomatoes, has experienced during the previous campaign a growth of 10.21% in its global turnover, exceeding 153 million. These data were made known during the course of its annual Assembly, in which farmers were informed of the productive and economic activity of the company during the last campaign 2016/17, with a balance of very positive results, reaching a production record of 75,000 tons of fruits and vegetables of high quality, diversity and differentiated taste.

Bayer consolidates its growth in Spain and Portugal, increasing its sales by 2.3%
Bayer billed LifeScience company 842 million euros to customers in the Iberia region (Spain and Portugal) in 2017, which represents a 2.3% growth compared to the previous year. In particular, customer billing in Spain reached 678 million euros, 1.7% more compared to 2016, while in Portugal it was 163 million, 4.6% more.

The healthy character of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and its versatility in international kitchens will be the protagonists of the Gourmet Area at the World Olive Oil Exhibition, the largest monographic meeting dedicated to olive oil, which will celebrate its seventh edition on the 21st and March 22nd at IFEMA-Madrid. Chef Kike Piñeiro has devised a menu to explore different cuisines of the world and demonstrate the versatility of this emblematic product of Spanish cuisine. Through breakfast, appetizer, lunch and dinner, they will show how healthy it is to have this ingredient at any time of the day.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment has published on Saturday March 17th, in the Official State Gazette (BOE), an excerpt from the order of March 8th, 2018, which calls for aid for the promotion of the integration of agrifood associative entities of supraautonomic scope, for the year 2018. These aids are part of the set of measures included in the State Plan of Associative Integration 2015-2020, approved in the Sectoral Conference on Agriculture and Rural Development of April 16th of 2015 and will be endowed, for the year 2018, with a budget of 1,750,000 euros.
