The World Olive Oil Exhibition has decided to grant, in its VII Anniversary, a special recognition to the BAENA Protected Designation of Origin for the quality of its oils, for its national and international projection, for its prestige in the most demanding markets and for its commitment to , from the beginning, for this event. This recognition will be delivered officially on March 22nd at 10:45 in the Tasting Room of the WOOE, with the presence of the President of the PDO, Javier Alcalá de la Moneda, and the Secretary General, José Manuel Bajo.
Todolivo: a visit to the ‘zone 0’ of the Xylella fastidiosa

The Andalusian cooperatives warn of the tight availability of oil for this campaign
In its last Sectorial Council of Olive Oil, held in Jaén, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía has warned of the tight availability of oil that will be available to supply the market, given the good commercialization index of the 2016-17 season and, above all, considering the important productive decline that is expected in the current one. A decrease due to the persistent drought suffered by the field and that is affecting the olive trees, which are already dragging a water deficit of several years. All this would lead to a disastrous 2018/19 campaign, taking into account that 70% of the Andalusian olive grove is rainfed.

A consortium is born that will develop biotechnological solutions against olive pests
These days, a supra-regional research group, SALUDOLIVAR, has been set up, with the participation of the Óleoestepa cooperative, the Sustainable Agriculture Institute (IAS) of the CSIC, the IBMA association (International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association), and the AINIA Technological Center. The objective of this consortium is to develop comprehensive strategies for the control of insect pests and emerging diseases with greater impact on productivity and yield of olive farms, especially some of special incidence such as the Olive Fly, Verticilosis or the Xylella.
Peru: Pro Olivo creates a management group to promote innovation within the olive sector
The Pro Olivo Association, which is made up of Peruvian olive processing and exporting olive and table processing companies, has recently created the Management Group of the Olive Innovation System, whose main purpose is to promote innovation within the olive sector. The establishment of this Management Group has been possible thanks to the support of the INNOVATE PERU Ministerial Program and once the Pro Olivo Association has successfully concluded the "Technological Innovation Agenda for the Technical and Commercial Development of the Olive Tree".
