Chile opens a lemon market in the United States under a systems approach
The Ministry of Agriculture of Chile announced after 4 years of negotiations the approval by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the Department of Agriculture of the United States (USDA) the certification of Chilean lemons under Systems Approach. Thus, an alternative is offered that will allow our country to export lemons in higher quality conditions, since it avoids fumigation with methyl bromide, substantially improving the post-harvest conditions of this fruit to a market in which Chile is the main provider.
Published the new Maximum Residue Limit of Diclorprop P for citrus fruits, which is set at 0.3mg / kg
According to Nufarm, the world leader in crop protection, the new Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) of Diclorprop-P for the whole citrus group was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 30th September (Regulation (EU ) of Commission 2017/1777). The new MRL set at 0.3 mg / kg includes oranges, mandarins, lemons, limes and grapefruits.
Andalusia harvests 12.3% more citrus, surpassing 2 million t.
Citrus production in Andalusia after the end of the 2016-2017 season has exceeded 2 million tonnes, according to data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (CAPDER). Specifically, this production amounted to 2,094,274 tonnes, 1.67% more than the estimate made in the first installment of this campaign and 12.3% higher than the harvest of the previous year.
