The size of Iberian pig farms in Spain grows 70% from 2011 to 2015
The average size of Iberian pig farms in Spain has grown to 70% between 2011 and 2015, according to the analysis carried out by the Research Institute of the Catalan Autonomous Government (IRTA) of the data obtained from all Iberian pork farms of our country adhered to the BDporc Iberian System. In total, the data of almost 35,000 sows distributed throughout the Spanish geography have been analyzed, which shows that the average number of animals per farm has increased from 439 to 748 during the period mentioned above.
