The healthy values of the EVOO and its application in international gastronomy center the Gourmet Area of the WOOE
The healthy character of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and its versatility in international kitchens will be the protagonists of the Gourmet Area at the World Olive Oil Exhibition, the largest monographic meeting dedicated to olive oil, which will celebrate its seventh edition on the 21st and March 22nd at IFEMA-Madrid. Chef Kike Piñeiro has devised a menu to explore different cuisines of the world and demonstrate the versatility of this emblematic product of Spanish cuisine. Through breakfast, appetizer, lunch and dinner, they will show how healthy it is to have this ingredient at any time of the day.
Spain: new record in turnover of olive exports of the 2016/17 campaign
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA), has published the bulletin of foreign trade of olive oil corresponding to the 2016/17 campaign, which shows a new record of turnover, with a value that exceeds in more than 600 million € the previous campaign.
DOP Sierra Mágina, an Extra Virgin unrepeatable
In the Sierra Mágina mountain range, in the south-central zone of the province of Jaén, a unique extra virgin olive oil is produced from the 61,000 hectares of olive groves protected by the Protected Denomination of Origin Sierra Mágina.

The competitiveness of the olive sector has centered the debate of the IV Dialogue Expoliva 2017
With a little more than two weeks to the start of Expoliva, more than 200 professionals from the sector participated in the fourth and last of the Dialogues organized prior to the holding of this fair, held at the Palacio de Congresos de Jaén under the title "The sector of the elaboration of olive oil. Different models of competitiveness for a similar environment".
The city of Olivenza will host on April 27 the IE Forum on intensive and super intensive olive
Interempresas Media, together with the advertising agency Clúster Marketing & Comunication, will celebrate the IE Olivar Forum on April 27th, with the collaboration of Apag Extremadura ASAJA, CTAEX and CICYTEX, and will focus on the intensive and super intensive olive grove. Under the title 'Olivar, incombustible cultivation', this event will be held in the Convento San Juan de Dios of Olivenza (Badajoz) and will bring together experts from the olive sector of Spain and Portugal who will share all their knowledge and experience on the particularities of this type of culture.
An oil from Granada, Special Food Prize of Spain and best AOVE green bitter
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) has awarded the "Food Prize of Spain Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 2016-2017 campaign", raising the one presented by the oil mill Venchipa S.L. Of Ácula (Granada) with a double recognition: the Special Food Prize of Spain and the award for the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil (AOVE), in the "Frutado Verde Amargo" modality. These awards aim to revalue the highest quality Spanish virgin olive oils and organoleptic properties and encourage producers to develop and market these oils.
