The Andalusian Women Network goes to Expoliva to boost the visibility of its collective in the primary sector
Women's associations and Rural Development Groups in Jaén, Málaga and Córdoba seek to give greater visibility to the role of women in the agro-food and fisheries sector through their participation in the XVIII International Fair of Olive Oil and Related Industries, Expoliva . This is the first time that this type of initiative is launched in a sector as masculinizado as it is still the agrarian.
Apples Val Venosta expects to double its ecological growing area by 2020
The Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers of the Valle Venosta (VI.P) is planning for the coming years an important growth strategy, based on one of its main values, respect for the environment. The Val Venosta VI.P-Manzanas, through its line BIO Val Venosta - which has positioned it among the first producers of organic apple in Europe, and since the market is dynamic and with a strong demand for organic product, will increase its organic production area by 50%, from its current 500 hectares to around 800 in 2020. A significant increase that will help confirm its European leadership.
Córdoba will host the 1st International Oliviculture in hedge Symposium OLINT
The Campus of Rabanales of Córdoba will be held on 29th June the 1st International Symposium on Olive Growing in hedge OLINT, to be organized by the company AGROMILLORA and its medium of expression, OLINT magazine, in collaboration with the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineers of the University of Cordoba (UCO). With applications for registration that already exceed 550 places of its capacity, this event will be attended by the main olive companies in the sector.
Troyan®, the new biological solution of Koppert against the plague of the headworm of the almond tree
Koppert Biological Systems has started the commercialization of Troyan®, a biological product containing entomopathogenic nematodes (which cause disease in insects) capable of controlling the plague of Capnodis tenebrionis, a beetle better known throughout Spain as the headworm almond. In recent years, this plague has spread throughout the country to become a serious problem because of the damage it causes in crops of almond, cherry, apricot, plum and peach.
Infoagro Exhibition to host the first of Greenvas’ new greenhouse products
Greenvass, specializing in the development of agricultural products for greenhouses and private use, will present its latest developments in the Infoagro Exhibition 2017, to be held from 10th to 12th May at the Exhibition and Congress Center of Aguadulce, Almería. Visitors will be able to find their new references at booth 027 on floor 1st of the fair.
An innovative solution against the verticilium defoliante was presented in the framework of Expoliva
On April 27th, a day was held in the Palacio de Congresos de Jaén as an event prior to Expoliva, which under the title "The Olive Vertigo, an innovative solution against the defoliant verticillium", welcomed the presentation of this significant milestone, as a result of the great perseverance with which Continental Plants and various scientists and scholars of the University of Cordoba have been investigating for years to deal with the pernicious effects on the verticillium olivar, which limits its operation, reduces its population and sometimes makes it impossible to exploit of said crop in certain areas.
Fecoam calls for a national water pact to respond to water scarcity in its region
The president of the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia (Fecoam), Santiago Martínez, has highlighted how the solution to the water shortage that is suffering his region "must be sought in a national water pact that includes all the needs, both of the infrastructures of some areas and the water resources for others". Martínez, who warned of this endemic problem of lack of water, taking advantage of the celebration of the XXXII Assembly of his Federation, has insisted that "the available water of the transfer is very scarce", to which the situation of the aquifers is added, "that in a few years will not be able to be used, reason why it is urgent to face the substitution of flows".
José Blanco claims EC aid to offset losses caused by potato blight
The Socialist MEP, José Blanco, has called on the European Commission, through a parliamentary question, to enable the necessary aid to compensate for the economic impact suffered by farmers affected by the potato pest. The Commission itself acknowledged in its parliamentary response that "in the affected areas, under Regulation (EU) No 652/2014, subsidies could be granted in certain circumstances in order to assist the national competent authorities to adopt eradication measures and to compensate owners for the value of spoiled vegetables".
John Deere and Michelin again sponsor European Championship of tractor drivers
John Deere and Michelin again sponsor the European Drivers' Championship to be held in June 2017. Sixteen drivers from across Europe will demonstrate their skills by driving the new 6250R tractor at the Michelin test facility in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Competition is not only a matter of speed, but also the best and most efficient management strategy.
