Argentina to increase its food exports to China through online sales
Alibaba Group has launched a new program that will allow Chinese consumers to buy Argentinean food in their online platform Tmall Fresh. An initiative that will increase the presence of Argentine fresh produce in the People's Republic of China and which has been the result of joint efforts by the Argentine Agency of Investment and International Trade and the Ministry of Agroindustry of the Nation.
Spain: MAPAMA and the sector work together to export cherry to the Thai market
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) and the cherry producing sector work together to open the Thai market to Spanish exports of this fruit. As part of this negotiation, inspectors from the Office of Development and Research for Plant Protection of the Thai Department of Agriculture inspected cherry farms in Aragon and Extremadura in July.

Andalusia harvests 12.3% more citrus, surpassing 2 million t.
Citrus production in Andalusia after the end of the 2016-2017 season has exceeded 2 million tonnes, according to data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (CAPDER). Specifically, this production amounted to 2,094,274 tonnes, 1.67% more than the estimate made in the first installment of this campaign and 12.3% higher than the harvest of the previous year.

The strawberry sector invoiced in this campaing a 15% more, surpassing the 454M€
The strawberry sector in Huelva has closed the economic period of the 2016-2017 campaign with a total of 454,665,000 euros, a turnover that represents an increase close to 15% compared to the previous season, as reported by the Association of Producers and Exporters of the Fresa de Huelva, Freshuelva. Strawberry production has also grown, albeit slightly (2% more), although planted hectares have fallen by 7%, reaching a total of 302,500 tonnes.
UPA claims the role of agrarian activity as a brake on rural depopulation
The Union of Small Farmers (UPA) has presented its 2017 annual family agriculture report on July 12th, at a large event held in Madrid, which has become a plea for the essential role played by agriculture and livestock as rural promoters, and guarantors of the continued existence of peoples living and generating employment and wealth in their territory.
