    Germany accounts for almost half of the contributions made to the public consultation on the CAP

    Germany is the EU country most involved in the public consultation process on the CAP, which took place between 2th February and 2th May, with 47% of the almost 323,000 contributions. A fact that has been given to know about the recent trip organized by the Directorate General of Agriculture of the European Commission, with the aim of disseminating among European journalists of Member States the most important aspects of agricultural policy and the fruit and vegetable sector.

    Agri-food exports between Peru and the Netherlands will be certified electronically

    The agri-food exports between Peru and the Netherlands will be certified electronically, after signing the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI), through the National Service of Agrarian Health (SENASA) an Operational Agreement for the Exchange of Electronic Certificates, with the Dutch Food Safety Authority (NVWA). Through this initiative, both countries hope to reduce costs and transaction times in exports and imports.

    AGRAGEX calls for greater commitment of the Administration with the internationalization of DEMOAGRO

    The Spanish Association of Manufacturers Exporters of Agricultural Equipment (AGRAGEX), took advantage of its participation in the fair of demonstrations of machinery and agricultural equipment, DEMOAGRO 2017 to value the export figures of the sector, during a meeting with the specialized press. The statistics report produced annually by this organization shows a growth of around 3% during the past year, reaching a total of € 2,101,665,042.68. These results, according to Jaime Hernani, president of AGRAGEX, "have been obtained with hardly any public support, since during the crisis the budgets for international promotion have been reduced by 80% and have not recovered". In that sense, Hernani urges the Administration to give greater support to the internationalization of events representative of the sector, as is the case of DEMOAGRO.

    Prices of melon and watermelon are down 60% and 10%, respectively, compared to last season

    The Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers' Organizations of Almería (COEXPHAL) has described as "very bad" the current melon and watermelon campaign, given that farmers who have opted for these fruits typical of the Almeria spring season are enduring its sale at prices below the threshold of profitability. All this translates into a little viable campaign in which, in the case of melon, the average contribution to date is 60% below the average of last year. As for watermelon, their prices have fallen 10% compared to the previous season.
