Lamb meat continues to gain fans
According to the latest market study commissioned by the Interprofessional Agro-Food Organization of Sheep and Goats (INTEROVIC), the upward trend in lamb meat consumption in Spain continues, reinforcing the increase recorded last year. This fact confirms the success of the European program of promotion to increase the consumption of meat of lamb and suckling lamb, that has been developing for two years in our country.

Spain, the European leader in industries that export pork to China

Such authorization comes after a long period of intensive negotiations between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Food Safety Authority Arabia (SFDA).
Mexico opens its borders to the Spanish pork
The Spanish meat industry has valued the opening of the Mexican market to its production of pigmeat, as manifested from the Office of Export Meat Spain (OEEC). Spain thus becomes the first country in the European Union authorized to export pig meat to Mexico.

The Spanish researcher, Jose Antonio Garcia Regueiro, has been elected Chairman of the Working Group on Nutrition and Health of CLITRAVI, a proposal from the Confederation of Business Organizations in the meat sector in Spain (CONFECARNE). The activity of that group focuses on scientific monitoring, data analysis on the role of meat in feeding and recovery of meat and meat products. CLITRAVI is the organization, based in Brussels, which represents the interests of more than 13,000 European meat industry.

This second year European program to promote the meat of lamb and mutton in Spain will also feature a major television campaign in peak time audience through a new spot to be aired from Monday to Sunday, and in which new uses will be the protagonists to reach directly to consumers.

The Spanish meat industry continues to grow abroad. In 2015, it exported 1.95 million tons worth 4,844 million euros worldwide. The sector accounts for 13% of industrial GDP of the country and more than 21% of the turnover and employment in the food industry.
