Freshuelva promotes innovation in berries through three operating groups
The Strawberry Producers and Exporters Association of Huelva (Freshuelva) is firmly committed to promoting innovation in the red fruit sector, leading three operational groups for the development of R & D & I projects, for which assistance has already been requested to the regional Goverment, through the recent call by the Andalusian Administration to promote the creation of Operational Groups of Innovation.
Spain launches campaign to request direct aid from the CAP
Since 1st February, the campaign has begun which will allow some 795,000 farmers to submit, until 30 April, the single application for direct aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for 2017. The total amount Amounting to EUR 4,926 million, which may be paid in the form of advances from 1th6 October and the balance as from 1st December.

Aldi withdraws its claim of strawberries, after the UPA complaint
The German-based supermarket chain Aldi has withdrawn its offer of strawberries, which the Union of Small Farmers (UPA) had denounced the previous day, as it was considered abusive, as the selling price of the product was below the cost of production.
Bankia closes 2016 with a net profit of € 804m and a further 5% dividend
Bankia posted a net attributable profit of 804 million euros in 2016, down 22.7% from the previous year (the decrease would be 8.4% without the contribution of the City National Bank of Florida last year, which was 164 million).
Spain increases its request for community aid for fruit and vegetables by 15%
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) has informed the European Commission of funding needs for 2017, under the fruit and vegetable aid scheme, of 270 million euros. Of this amount, which represents an increase of 15% compared to the 2016 request and 18% compared to 2015, 23 million will be allocated to measures for the prevention and management of market crises, which is 8% of the total.
