Spanish wine exports continue to rise
Spain keeps a strong increase in its wine exports to international markets, but now not only in terms of volume, where the increase is 8.4%, but also in value, an increase of nearly 100 million euros between January and November this year, to reach 2,409.9 million euros. n terms of value, are the wines with denomination of origin and other wines packaged the leading growth in 2015, while volume sales remain strong bulk wines, which increased particularly to France.
Until November 2015, Spanish wine exports increased its turnover by 4.3% to 2409.9 million euros, with profit of nearly 100 million euros in eleven months and approaching the level of 3,000 million in 12 months, according OeMv. This increase in value, with positive month of November both in euros and in liters, binds to growth in volume, which is 8.4% through November, reaching the 2210.9 million liters. In absolute terms, they have exported 170.5 million liters more than in the same period of 2014.
By product type, are packaged wines with designation of origin (PDO), sparkling wine with a geographical indication (PGI) which lead the growth in value, while bulk wine recorded an overall slight decline of -0.2 %. In volume terms, however, they are the bulk wines without any indication that continue to lead the increase, with the bulk indicating variety and wines with IGP packaged.
Although the main destinations of Spanish wines remain the markets of France and Germany, it highlights the growth recorded until November, in North America, including the US (+ 11.8%), Canada (+ 9.7%) and Mexico (+ 13.7%) and China (+ 33%) and the Netherlands (+ 13.3%). In terms of volume, of the 170.5 million liters more wine were sold in this period compared to the first eleven months of 2014, France is the market that has increased its purchases in absolute terms (88.1 million more liters), followed by China with 25.8 million liters, Germany and Romania with 23.5 million, with 15.9 million.
In short, a positive month of November to the Spanish wine exports improved global growth until November, that is + 8.4% in volume and 4.3% in value, with an average price that softens its fall ( -3.7%) and stood at 1.09 euros per liter. The annual exports up to November show record figures in both volume and value.
