French and Iberian demands push to invest more 3 million euros in Azucarera facilities

The Spanish company Azucarera has invested 3.2 million euros in the Packaging Center of Benavente (Zamora, Spain) to stimulate the operation of the factory and address the growing demand for its specialty sugar market in the Iberian and French. During 2015, the company has developed five new production lines and has doubled its production volume over last year, reaching a production of nearly 200,000 tons.

The Spanish company Azucarera has invested 3.2 million euros in the Packaging Center of Benavente (Zamora, Spain) to stimulate the operation of the factory and address the growing demand for its specialty sugar market in the Iberian and French. During 2015, the company has developed five new production lines and has doubled its production volume over last year, reaching a production of nearly 200,000 tons.

This season 2015-2016 be launched 21 new references in different formats for the consumer and distributor customers, among which the launch of ‘Sugar Life’ and the new boat 500 g of ‘Silk Glace’. In total, the company packaged 104 references in Benavente that respond to new consumer habits and logistics needs of its customers.

This investment is part of the policy of sugar to boost industrial competitiveness and profitability and to respond to the growing demand of its customers. The investment in the center has been designed a new lines of production and packaging to produce nearly 10 tons of sugar per hour. In addition, it has been updated and optimized the production process in all areas of the center. The company has also invested in upgrading security policies and improve efficiency both in the prevention of occupational risks and strengthening improvements in environmental management.

About Azucarera

Azucarera is a sugar production leading company in Spain, marketing a wide range of co-products derived from sugars and sugar beet and sugar cane intended to industrial customers and distribution. Its production comes from sugar beets extracted from locally grown and refining raw sugar cane from third countries.
Sugar beet receives about 4,800 individual and associated farmers in production units distributed in Castilla and Leon, Andalusia, the Basque Country, La Rioja and Navarra. In Castilla y Leon, the company has five production, packaging, supply and R & D located in Zamora (plants Benavente and Toro), Leon (La Bañeza), Valladolid (Penafiel) and Burgos (Miranda de Ebro ). In Andalusia, Sugar has a center in Jerez de la Frontera in extracting sugar from beet and refining raw sugar and energy by cogeneration processes.
The company is part of the group AB Sugar, the leader in sugar production in Spain, the UK and six other countries in Africa and China.
