The competitiveness of the olive sector has centered the debate of the IV Dialogue Expoliva 2017
With a little more than two weeks to the start of Expoliva, more than 200 professionals from the sector participated in the fourth and last of the Dialogues organized prior to the holding of this fair, held at the Palacio de Congresos de Jaén under the title “The sector of the elaboration of olive oil. Different models of competitiveness for a similar environment”.
The Dialogues Expoliva 2017 have been held in the prelude to this international event, to be held in Jaén, from 10th to 13th May, with the aim of showing the trends, evolution and challenge of the international olive sector and enhance the exchange of information and knowledge on this subject, as highlighted Ángel Vera, chairman of the Board of Directors of Ferias Jaén, SA (Ifeja), during the inauguration of this last Dialogue, in which he was accompanied by Mª del Carmen Ortiz, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Board Of Andalusia and Aurelio Mesa, technical director of Amenduni Ibérica and sponsor of the Dialogues Expoliva 2017.
On the other hand, Vera thanked “the important intellectual contribution made by all the speakers and participants in each of the four dialogues held, which have allowed us to conceive a general vision of the olive sector from different perspectives, which is more enriching”.
The Minister pointed out as challenges of the olive sector “to plan the campaigns well and to better segment the consumers, since there is an olive oil for each client and each use and in each one of them we can generate value as demonstrated by the companies in the sector”
The head of Agriculture calls for uniting efforts “to compete in international markets with brands and oils adapted to the taste of each country and to remember the true origin of the product”.
This day has given the opportunity to learn about different ways of understanding and managing the olive-growing activity, and to know, especially enriching points of view, from each and every one of the perspectives, with great professionals and experts who have shown the different models of competitiveness that can be found in the sector.
The first of the thematic tables – entitled “Strategies competitive through organizational models of integration and social economy” moderated by José María Valdivia, manager of Ifeja, was attended by Álvaro Olavarría, managing director of Óleoestepa; Cristóbal Gallego, president of Jaencoop; Rafael Sánchez de Puerta, deputy director general of Dcoop; And Juan Gadeo, president of Interóleo Picual Jaén. Experts all of them of recognized national and international prestige, who have realized from their vital experience, a perfect radiography of the different competitive models that can be found today.
On the other hand, in the second table – entitled “Strategic models of competition based on the perspective of specialization” and moderated by the strategic consultant Juan Vilar, participated Antonio Gallego, general director of Migasa, Luis Torres Morente, general director of Maeva; Luis Folque, CEO of Sovena; and Sergio Antón, attached to the general direction and international director of Acesur.
