The Peruvian companies participating in the last edition of Fruit Logística have settled their participation in this important international fair of the sector hortofrutícola, closing businesses for a global value of 200 million dollars. For the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros, this is a “record figure”, having exceeded by 32% the initial expectations.

The Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism has highlighted the results obtained through the brand Superfoods Peru, launched in the framework of Fruit Logistics by the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ)

This initiative, which has the support of the Peruvian private sector, has as its central mission to make known to the world the quality, variety and benefits of the Peruvian food offer.

According to Ferreyro has emphasized, the products that aroused greater interest has been the avocado, pomegranate, blueberries and grape.

Among the new Peruvian products, those that have had a greater projection in business have been pineapple, kion and turmeric, coming from the area of the VRAEM, Huánuco and Cerro de Pasco

“The international presentation of the Superfoods Peru brand has given a boost to Peruvian sales. As is known, at present, there are new trends among consumers and concern for healthier lifestyles. That is why, today, superfoods are in the main markets and global food fairs“, said the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

The global launch of the Superfoods Peru brand was led by Minister Eduardo Ferreyros, accompanied by the representatives of ADEX, AGAP, APEM, ProHass, Procitrus and ProVi. During the event, which was attended by a large number of international buyers, trade fair authorities and specialized press, the MINCENTUR official informed that this brand will be incorporated into more than 40 food promotion activities in Europe, America, Asia and Oceania, with the support of the diplomatic missions of Peru abroad.

The Peruvian footballer Claudio Pizarro, considered the most successful in Peruvian history, was in charge of becoming ambassador of the brand Superfoods Peru in Germany

Peru is a global leader in superfoods for six key reasons:

  1. Its biodiversity, which allows a wide variety of products to grow naturally
  2. Its first-level export capacity
  3. A knowledge of the new habits of consumption, which allows its producers to be innovators and reliable suppliers
  4. Ancestral knowledge, applied to the world today
  5. A gastronomy with history, identity and flavor
  6. The fact of representing an ideal destination for international investments in agribusiness.

Peruvian participation in Berlin

Peru has participated in Fruit Logistica with a delegation of 330 entrepreneurs, who have exhibited their exportable offer in a stand of more than 520 square meters, which has hosted various promotional actions such as demonstrations of cooking, tastings, musical presentations, and exhibition of A burlap, among others.

The PROMPERÚ stand at Fruit Logística has been visited by more than 6,100 international buyers, of the nearly 70,000 who, from 130 countries, have attended this fair

Likewise, almost 3,100 exhibitors from 86 nationalities attended this event.

Business contacts

It should be noted that the organic banana producers of Piura and Tumbes have established commercial contacts that have resulted in business expectations of around US $ 30 million.

In addition, pineapple producers exhibited an offer that attracted the interest of international buyers, as well as exporters of organic kion and turmeric, who managed to market 15 and 6 containers each.

“This has been possible thanks to the support of the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI) which has been supporting agricultural organizations. In that sense, we have a great strategic alliance with this institution and its dependencies, to strengthen the agricultural and agro-export sector, providing the commercial outlet to organized producers and working together for access to markets”, said Minister Ferreyros.
