FIMA shows its full potential in its 40th edition
With the 40th edition of FIMA, which takes place from February 20th to 24th, the Aragonese capital becomes, in the words of the President of Feria de Zaragoza, Manuel Teruel, “the world leader in the agri-food sector”. A market that has once again shown its confidence in Feria de Zaragoza and FIMA, International Fair of Agricultural Machinery.
Proof of this, has been the environment that, from the first hour of the morning of its opening day, has lived in the eleven pavilions and 161,000 square meters that make up the largest FIMA in history.
King Felipe VI presided over the opening ceremony of the 40th edition of FIMA; a guest of honor who already visited the event in its 2014 edition, when he was still Prince of Asturias and from which he received the gold badge. Along with the president of Feria de Zaragoza, Manuel Teruel, the Minister of Agriculture, Isabel García Tejerina, also attended the official inauguration; the president of the Government of Aragón, Javier Lambán; the advisers of Economy, Marta Gastón, and of Rural Development, Joaquín Olona and the mayor of Saragossa, Pedro Santisteve.
In statements to the media, the president of Aragón, Javier Lambán, has recognized the good health enjoyed by the international machinery hall after the forty editions held. He also stated that “Feria de Zaragoza and FIMA are one of the main showcases that Aragon has” in the face of internationalization and the economic development of the community.
In the same lines Manuel Teruel has pronounced, who has affirmed that FIMA began “in the hands of the agriculturists” to happen to be a completely professional contest and with a great technological level.
Likewise, and prior to the inauguration, the VI Forum for Rural Development was held in the Congress Center, organized by the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Aragón, Navarra and the Basque Country. A meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Rural Development of the Government of Aragon, Joaquín Olona, and in which the theme of debate has revolved around the main challenges of the agri-food sector and the professionalization of this through the technological incorporations.
During the opening day, the Sectoral Meeting on Innovation in Agricultural Irrigation, organized by AQUAESPAÑA, took place. During the meeting, the speakers have shown their vision on how to achieve innovative solutions that respond to the new interests of the agricultural market.
The general director of Feria de Zaragoza, Rogelio Cuairán, highlighted the role of the fair as a benchmark in the agri-food sector and stressed the importance of irrigation, with salons such as SMAGUA, which have been supporting the sector for more than forty years
Finally, in the framework of the technical conferences, highlights the presentation of the Cluster of Agricultural Machinery of Aragon. More than thirty companies are part of this group that aims to collaborate to achieve the increase in sales of equipment outside the region. The Councilor for Innovation and Research, Pilar Alegría was present at the event where she highlighted as the main objective “the improvement of competitiveness through innovation”.
A golden start for the reference event of the agricultural sector of the Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean Arc. More than two hundred thousand visitors from a hundred countries around the world will visit the Feria de Zaragoza facilities where they will find the greatest technological innovations in the global agri-food sector.
