ExpoLevante 2018 will feature more than twenty debates, presentations and presentations
Everything is ready for this Wednesday to start the fourteenth edition of Expolevante, an event that will run until Friday at the Exhibition and Congress Center of Campohermoso, in Níjar, and which is an unbeatable opportunity for dissemination and promotion of advances in the agricultural auxiliary industry and biotechnology. With almost double the area that last year, Expolevante will bring, in this edition, more than twenty presentations, presentations and debates that will address issues such as water, organic production, marketing and the future dry port de Níjar and that will enrich a very varied program.
On Wednesday, once the fair is inaugurated, the first presentation will take place, which will be the responsibility of the International Global Spaces manager, José María Martín, with the title ‘Opportunities for the auxiliary industry of Almeria’s agriculture in Colombia’. After this, the cycle ‘Agriculture for the 21st Century’ will start at 12.30, which will be opened by Fruit Logística communication director, Silvia de Juanes. The first installment of this cycle addressing the future of tomato improvement. The TomGem project will be addressed by the Agrosustainability of the experimental stations of Cajamar, Carlos Baixauli, and by Professor Antonio Granell, a Spanish researcher who participated in the sequence of the tomato genome. Companies such as Agrobio, Sotrafa or AgroEcology will also be present on Wednesday to discuss their business models and their new products, in the same way that the Official College of Agricultural Technical Engineers of Almeria will offer a presentation. Already in the afternoon, a debate on distribution chains, will put on the table the divergences and convergences from the point of view of the Almeria sector. It will be moderated by Luis Miguel Fernández Sierra and will have representatives from Unica Group, Vicasol, Coprohníjar, CASI and Primaflor.
The day of Thursday, as far as talks are concerned, will begin at 10.30 am with the presentation of ‘The new biotechnology, innovative solutions in agriculture’, which will offer the manager of Biorizon, David Iglesias. Half an hour later, the manager of the Ports Agency of the Junta de Andalucía, Mariela Fernández, and the operations director of Grupo J. Carrión, José Sánchez, will talk about the project of the future dry port of Níjar. Pelemix will offer a presentation on the new strategy of pest control and, at 12.30, will arrive the highlight, again within the cycle ‘Agriculture for the XXI Century’, with the head of service of Ecological Production Systems IFAPA, Jon Jáuregui, in his lecture ‘Ecological cultivation for the future’. The program is complemented by a presentation of the local company Bio Campojoyma and a debate in which the remains of the University of Almeria regarding the fruit and vegetable sector will be analyzed, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of this academic institution. It will be moderated by the director of the CIAIMBITAL, Diego Luis Valera, intervening the professors Rafael Lozano, Tomás Cabello, Francisco Rodríguez and Emilio Galdeano.
With a view to the last day of Expolevante, the Agrarian School of Vícar and EFA Campomar are scheduled to start the day with exhibitions. At 11:30, graduates in chemistry Antonio Casas and Adolfo Martín (reactive laboratory) will talk about the control of water in the soil and persistent pollutants, just before giving way to the third and last conference of the cycle ‘Agriculture for the XXI Century ‘, with the vice president of the Committee on Agriculture of the European Parliament, Clara Aguilera offering her point of view about the European Union, as a market and management space. Before the break for lunch there will be time for Fertinagro Biotech and Castillo de Tabernas to also offer their presentations.
At 4:00 pm, the day resumes with a talk by journalists Jacinto Castillo and Marco Rueda (Agricultura 2000 and SER Agricultor), whose title will be ‘Comunicación para la agricultura 4.0’. Half an hour later it will be Himarcan’s turn, with a presentation on the control of water, fertilizers and non-contamination of aquifers, and these Expolevante conferences will be closed by the president of the Community of Water Users of the Níjar Comarca CUCN , Antonio López, dealing with the issue of desalinated water.
It is, therefore, a very varied programming that has achieved that the occupation for these days is 100%. Expolevante arrives with high expectations and with the firm objective of overcoming its numbers last year, when more than 40,000 people gathered at the Exhibition and Congress Palace of Campohermoso. The ambitious programming of this edition invites us to think about it.
