The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Fair of Mora, this year will be a reference for environmental recovery
The locality of Mora (Toledo) will celebrate during the days 27, 28, 29 and 30 of April the Fair of Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2018, organized by the consistory moracho on the occasion of the celebration of the Fiesta del Olivo, a traditional and well-known This year’s celebration celebrates its 62nd edition on 28, 29 and 30 April, which has also been declared of National Tourist Interest for 51 years.
This year, the Fair will be marked by the celebration of the 1st Technical Day Life + Regrow, the European Project of environmental recovery of the Balsas de Alpechín that are being developed in Mora.
A project of vital importance for all the olive-growing towns, their cooperatives and mills, since it aims to provide an innovative, effective, sustainable and low-cost solution to the management of this waste.
A project that proposes a solution to the world and global problem of the environmental problem of this type of facilities and waste, in which five partners have been associated: Mora City Council, University of Almeria, Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Gesreman and the Association Spanish. de Municipios del Olivo (AEMO), which works to environmentally restore these ponds with bioremediation strategies Mora and its olive sector is applied to the European and global avant-garde in terms of circular economy. For this, it has a budget of 1,480,627 euros co-financed by 60% by the EU.
Those attending this Conference have the opportunity to learn first hand about the objectives pursued by this European Project for Environmental Recovery, as well as the different biorecovery strategies that are carried out in the Mora for the environmental recovery of the alpechín ponds, model that once finalized, it is tried to export to the rest of Spain and Europe to give solution to this serious environmental problem of the management of the waste produced by the production of Olive oil, that does not have any attention that an olive during the process of extraction of oil, approximately 20% have olive juice and the remaining 80% are waste to be administered.
