Spanish exports of agricultural equipment resist the poor situation of the European market and increase in 2016 almost 3%
Exports of the Spanish agricultural equipment industry show its good health, in spite of the difficult situation of the European market, its main destination, reaching in 2016 a total of 2,101,665,042.68 €, representing a growth of almost 3% with In relation to 2015. Data, published by AGRAGEX, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Agricultural Machinery and Components, Greenhouses, Crop Protection, Irrigation Systems, Livestock Equipment, Animal Health and Nutrition, Forestry, Biomass And Post-Harvest, on the occasion of its participation in the International Fair for Animal Production-FIGAN, which took place in Zaragoza from 28th to 31th March.
The trend of growth in sectors such as Health and Animal Nutrition and Crop Protection is strengthened, which are the most outstanding in the sector and continue to position themselves among the most recognized in the world for their high technological level and ability to offer adjusted solutions to local markets
By sectors, the one that has more weight in the total figure is the one of Health and Animal Nutrition, with 658,187,983.89 €. Countries data
Analyzing globally all sectors of the Spanish supply of agricultural equipment, it is confirmed, once again, that the main customer of the Spanish agricultural equipment industry continues to be the European Union, with 55.08% of exports and one total of 1,157.55 million euros exported
Latin America is the second market with 13.17% of exports, and a total value of 276.72 million euros. Asia accounts for 11.81% of sales abroad, with a total of 248.21 million euros. The countries of the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia and Egypt) represent 8.84%, with sales of 185.76 million euros.
The rest of Europe absorbs 5.26% of the foreign sales of this sector, with 110.52 million euros. Africa, with a total of 54.87 million euros exported, represents 2.61%.
According to Jaime Hernani, president of AGRAGEX, “achieving an increase of 3% is a very positive fact, taking into account that Europe, the first customer of Spanish companies in the sector, is not going through its best moment, with much political uncertainty which slows down investments overall and pulls back buyers awaiting the outcome of the planned elections in different countries. As far as sectors are concerned, we have a sector of Animal Nutrition and Health that has nothing to envy to any European power”.
AGRAGEX Reverse Missions
In the framework of the International Animal Production Fair-FIGAN 2017, AGRAGEX has again celebrated its well-known Reverse Missions, meetings organized to bring in direct contact with Spanish exporters with foreign distributors and importers. For two days, AGRAGEX facilitates business and commercial relations that otherwise cost a lot of time, travel and effort to achieve.
In this edition, AGRAGEX has brought to FIGAN 33 carefully selected importers who came from 18 different countries to meet with the companies associated with the organization and also with other companies in the sector of Spanish agricultural equipment. The source list includes Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Korea, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, India, Iran, Morocco, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Numerous companies associated with AGRAGEX have participated in FIGAN to show the innovation that the Spanish industry is capable of. Some have been highlighted with the recognition of their technical innovations in this edition, as is the case of Exafán, which has two mentions for its bait hopper with regulation and locking system and for its environmental control system SCA; Of Elmega, with an improved system for the control of the washing of the milking parlor; Or Rotecna, highlighted, for example, by Dositronic, which improves the distribution of feed for pregnant sows.
