Mexico’s agri-food export advances 8.6%
“Exports of agri-food products (which include the agricultural and agribusiness sectors) reported an accumulated advance to November of last year of 34.619 million dollars,” the agency said in a statement.
The secretariat stressed that the exports registered until November 2019 were very similar to those registered throughout the year 2018, when the 34,849 million dollars were reached.
The agri-food surplus reflected in the trade balance had “a growth rate with an annual increase of 48.32%, which represents a positive balance of 8,315 million dollars in the period.”
“This surplus in the agri-food trade balance is the highest recorded in recent decades, reflecting a greater dynamism in the export sector of this type of goods, as well as the quality and demand that Mexican products have in world markets.” , stressed the dependence. Also, between January and November 2019, agricultural products reached sales of 14,416 million dollars, representing a growth of 9.91% over the same period last year.
The commercial balance of this type of products registered an increase of 58.44% at an annual rate, with a surplus of 4,307 million dollars. While agroindustrial products registered 18,203 million dollars between January and November 2019, which represents a growth of 7.47% compared to the same period of 2018.
The trade balance of these goods had an increase of 38.79%, with a surplus of 4,008 million dollars and beverages, vegetables and fruits were the main export groups to concentrate more than 60% of international sales.
The meat products were those that presented the greatest dynamism between January and November 2019, with an increase of 17% over the same period of the previous year. In what corresponds to the products with greater demand in the international market, beer registered sales for 4,528 million dollars, with an advance of 8.02%; Avocados 2,711 million dollars, with an increase of 18.16% and tequila and mezcal, sales for 1.8 billion dollars, with an increase of 18.69%.
