MAPAMA organizes a tour of the landscapes and flavors of Spain at FITUR
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment participates in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2018, which takes place between January 17th and 21th at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid. The Department has a stand of 360 square meters, located in Hall 9 of the fair, to publicize the wide possibilities offered by the conjunction of National Parks, Biosphere Reserves, Spanish cuisine and Natural Roads, through a tour of the Spanish geography, under the message “Travel through the landscapes and flavors of Spain”.
In FITUR a selection of the most representative itineraries of the Natural Roads Network will be shown, which has more than a hundred itineraries totaling approximately 10,000 km
Presentations will be made on the new routes recently put into service, in addition to those that are being executed or planned. The dissemination actions that the Ministry carries out to publicize the Natural Roads Network will also be presented, thus enhancing its use.
The Natural Roads Network has two clear objectives. On the one hand, to promote rural, environmental and cultural tourism, offering users new possibilities for inland tourism and leisure that respects the environment, and on the other hand, to contribute to the socioeconomic development of the rural environment.
Quality designations
In order to publicize the richness and variety of Spanish gastronomy, different dissemination and information actions will be carried out on the protected quality figures: Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). Spain has more than 300 foods with protected quality, which constitute the system used in the European Union for the recognition of a differentiated quality, consequence of its own characteristics and differential due to the geographical environment in which they are produced, the raw materials with which food is made, and the influence of the human factor that participates in them.
More than 25 representatives of the regulatory councils will present their specialties and conduct guided tastings, as well as tastings and activities aimed at groups of interest, such as bloggers and students of tourism and restoration
Natural Wealth
The National Parks Network is currently formed by 15 National Parks. The richness and uniqueness of its flora and fauna, the representativeness of its ecosystems, the beauty of its landscapes, its geological and geomorphological formations, its state of conservation, as well as its cultural values, make them possessing ecological, aesthetic values , cultural, educational and scientific outstanding, whose conservation deserves preferential attention and are declared of general interest of the State.
The National Parks Network unites the most representative natural systems of the Spanish natural heritage. 100 years ago, the first two representatives of the fifteen that make up the Network, the Montaña de Covadonga, the Picos de Europa and the Ordesa Valley, today Ordesa and Monte Perdido, were declared. First sanctuaries of our nature that were safeguarded for their conservation and the use and enjoyment of all Spaniards.
In FITUR the National Parks Autonomous Organization wants to celebrate this event, as well as present a series of products made to publicize the values of national parks as well as the reality of ecotourism and sustainable tourism in the National Parks Network and the Network Spanish Reserve of the Biosphere. It will present a book of the geology of the fifteen; will hold an event with the presence of the business sector and distribute a brochure that brings together the National Parks, Biosphere Reserves, Natural Roads and Food of differentiated quality of our country, a formula that combines the best of our natural and cultural heritage.
World leader in biosphere reserves
Spain is the country with the largest number of biosphere reserves in the world with 48 spaces declared as such by UNESCO, ahead of the United States and the United States and China
They are distributed by 15 of the 17 autonomous communities and three of them are cross-border, of which one is intercontinental.
The Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves, represents the different realities of the Spanish territory committed to sustainability. Those spaces in which water is the protagonist, the islands with their ecological peculiarities, the mountainous spaces and those of high mountain, or those of Mediterranean middle mountain. Spaces all that combine nature, culture and tradition.
FITUR will be the showcase to show the Biosphere Reserve Brand as well as the reality of these spaces destined to rehearse sustainable development
Under the umbrella of this brand, ecotourism, sustainable tourism and community-based tourism are some of the valid formulas to create entrepreneurship, wealth and set population in a respectful way with the territory and its values.
Landscape and gastronomic variety
As a central act in the development of the fair, the Ministry has scheduled on Thursday 18th at 11.30 am, chaired by the Secretary General of Agriculture and Food, Carlos Cabanas, the presentation “Travel through the Landscapes and Flavors of Spain”, a tour for the geography of our country through the natural roads to visit the National Parks, the Biosphere Reserves, while you can enjoy the differentiated quality foods of each place.
The act will be conducted by the Spanish television presenter Jakob Petrus, and by the chef Daniel del Toro who will offer a tasting of local products highlighting especially those with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
For the third year, the Ministry intends, with its participation in the FITUR fair, to publicize the richness and variety of Spanish nature, culture and gastronomy and the wide possibilities offered by our natural landscapes.
The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) is a must for all those institutions and companies related to tourism and travel, considering the largest fair related to this sector at a national level with international impact, business volume and professionalism.
During the Fair, at the MAPAMA stand, presentations, workshops, tastings and tastings will be held to show the different corners of the trip through its landscapes and flavors
