The EU brought the consumption of fruits and vegetables and dairy products to more than 30 million children, during the school year 2016/17

During the 2016/17 school year, the EU brought the consumption of fruit and vegetables to more than 12.2 million children in 79,000 schools, through its fruit and vegetable consumption program. Along the same lines of promoting a healthy diet among the European child population, more than 18 million schoolchildren participated in their milk consumption program. Thanks to both initiatives, more than 74,000 tons of fruit and vegetables and more than 285,000 tons of dairy products were distributed to children between the ages of 6 and 10 years.

AESAN and MERCAMADRID inaugurated the Professional Conference “5 a day”, highlighting the importance of spreading and promoting the consumption of fruits and vegetables

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition, AECOSAN showed its support to the Association “5 a day”, inaugurating its X Professional Conference, together with Mercamadrid. This event, which was held in the auditorium of the Mercamadrid Administrative Center, brought together distribution companies, wholesalers and producers of the fruit and vegetable sector.

García Tejerina praises the Alimentaria 2018 model as a world reference fair

The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, highlighted the full support of her Department for the renewal of the Alimentaria 2018 model, which implies more integration, greater openness to the outside world and more innovation. García Tejerina made these statements on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the presentation of the International Food, Beverage & Food Service Exhibition, held on February 28th at MAPAMA headquarters. A fair whose success, as the minister has indicated, is demonstrated by its more than 4,500 exhibiting companies from 70 countries, the participation of some 150,000 professionals (30% are international) and the nearly 12,500 business meetings scheduled.

Unique Group has ten healthy proposals for the PITA cafeteria menu

Unica Group has developed ten healthy dishes proposals for the cafeteria menu of the Technological Park of Almería (PITA), continuing in its line of promoting healthy habits, just as it did with the Healthy Hotel project. These are recipes based on the “Healthy Eating Plate” concept from Harvard University, consisting of a balance of macronutrients, real food that is not processed, fresh and, whenever possible, organic.

MAPAMA organizes a tour of the landscapes and flavors of Spain at FITUR

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment participates in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2018, which takes place between January 17th and 21th  at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid. The Department has a stand of 360 square meters, located in Hall 9 of the fair, to publicize the wide possibilities offered by the conjunction of National Parks, Biosphere Reserves, Spanish cuisine and Natural Roads, through a tour of the Spanish geography, under the message “Travel through the landscapes and flavors of Spain”.

Andalucía Sabor exceeds the expected figures, reaching more than 2,100 trade meetings

The 6th edition of the Andalucía Sabor fair closed its doors last 27th of September, with results that confirm the professional and commercial character of this event. Throughout its three days of celebration, this fair has received more than 5,500 visitors and has allowed more than 2,100 meetings arranged from the national and international missions in which have participated 20 Spanish buyers and another 52 of 25 countries of highlighting those coming from the US, Canada, Brazil, Europe and Asia.

Sakata will wave the flavor flag at Fruit Attraction

The seed company, Sakata Seed Ibérica, will be present at the next edition of Fruit Attraction in pavilion 5 stand 5D06, betting on the taste of its varieties. Thus, and under the motto “Sakata Sabor”, the central day of the fair, Thursday 19th October, the seed company has created a space in its stand where a colloquium will be held entitled “Field and kitchen” where, in a relaxed way a debate will be held on the importance of flavor from the beginning to the end of the food chain. A “tasty” network of reputed restaurants, anteroom of ‘Andalucía Sabor’

A total of 41 restaurants from the eight Andalusian provinces have allied themselves in the Sabor Network, which from September 15th and for a whole month will offer special menus with quality Andalusian products.
