Expoliva 2017 presents itself as the ideal environment for business and business contacts
The Director General of Industries and Food Chain of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Junta de Andalucía, Rosa Ríos, has presented in Madrid the XVIII International Fair of Olive Oil and Related Industries, Expoliva, to be held in Jaén From 10th to 13th May. Ríos has referred to this event as “the most important in the world dedicated to olive oil, a space that generates business and commercial relations, national and international, and the most relevant technical forum in the world where we talk about the producing sector of oil and its related companies“.
For Rosa Ríos, this event also comes at a very opportune moment in which “the sector presents good economic data that invite optimism, with prices that are at levels of profitability for producers, a campaign comparatively better than that of our competitors and some exports that continue to grow and that have olive oil as the star product”. In this regard, she underlined the importance of Expoliva, “which plays a crucial role for the promotion and dissemination of our olive oil.” In fact, in this edition is foreseen, for the first time, the participation of the 56 countries producing olive oil of the world.
The Director General has also referred to the XVII Technical Scientific Symposium and the VI International Exhibition Expoliva Virgen Extra that houses the exhibition and supports the Ministry.
Among other issues, the Symposium will address issues such as the current price situation, the situation of new plantations, as well as the actions being carried out for the prevention and control of ‘Xylella fastidiosa’
The work of more than 450 researchers from all olive oil producing countries will also be presented and the improvements being introduced in the harmonization of the tasting panels will be reported.
As for the International Salon of Oils, this year will be present oils from more than 57 varieties of olives from around the world, “which gives it a wide diversification and complexity from an organoleptic point of view”, said Rosa Ríos. According to the director, there will be an extensive program of activities designed to encourage interaction between the visitor and the oils through individual tastings and group tastings, among others.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development participates this year with an institutional stand of 144 square meters, where in addition to hosting Denominations of Origin of extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia, different activities will be carried out to promote the quality and benefits of the Andalusian oils. As explained by the representative of the Ministry, in the space of the Board will be showcooking by renowned chefs, such as the chef Jenien Anselmo Juarez.
