In this year’s edition of the Fruit Logistics fair in Berlin, Citrosol’s Valencian company will showcase its sustainability, showing customers and professionals how their post-harvest solutions for citrus fruits and vegetables implement environmental improvements in factors such as water or air quality, among other elements. Through these proposals the life of the fruit is extended, providing food security to the consumers, and responding to the demands of the markets that demand more sustainable products and services.
Benitor Orihuel, CEO of Citrosol: “Citrosol is increasingly contributing to sustainability with its systems and products. At the German fair we will emphasize this differentiating feature “
Fruit Logística 2017, which expects 70,000 professional visitors from 130 countries, will take place at the Messe in Berlin from 8th to 10th February. The firm Citrosol will exhibit in Hall 18, Stand A-07. In this edition it will again show for the second year his ‘KNOW-HOW container’, a portable museum that shows all the phases from the time a citrus is harvested until it reaches the consumer table, emphasizing container shipments to distant countries .
Sustainability, in fact
The KNOW-HOW container will be the protagonist of Citrosol’s exhibitor for the second consecutive year, but this time the focus will also be on showing customers the products that make Citrosol the most sustainable postharvest processes in the world. Handling and treatment of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Some of the different solutions, improvements and developments of Citrosol, as a result of their constant R & D & i work, are described below, contributing to a sustainable and effective postharvest:
- Waxes EU: Citrus coating waxes that reduce the temperature in drying tunnels by reducing carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Citrosol System Zero ®: System for the control of the rotten that avoids to manage the “broths of end of the day”, since it is possible to maintain the initial efficiency of the same ones. With this treatment drencher the treatment broths remain unchanged, always with maximum efficiency. “A radical improvement that keeps the fungicidal concentrations constant even throughout an entire campaign” says Benito Orihuel.
- Citrocide ® System: For hygienic washing and rotting control of peppers, tomatoes and avocados, which saves more than 70% water. In addition, the only post-harvest products for the disinfection of citrus, peppers and tomatoes authorized in Spain for use in organic farming are Citrosol: Citrocide ® PC and Citrocide ® PLUS.
The ‘KNOW-HOW container’ consists of a container subdivided into 6 panels (Collection, Drencher Treatment, Wax Treatment, Pre-cooled, Hygiene and Transport) with updated information to describe the critical moments of overseas citrus export and its solutions postharvest.
With this small portable museum Citrosol details a wide range of good agricultural practices, from the models of the harvesting scissors, to the use of the drencher in the treatment with fungicides within the first 24 hours of collection, until arriving at the load of The fruit in the containers, that must come pre-cooled, a good ventilation, or the maintenance of the cold chain.
