BASF: Challenges responsible food consumption in Barcelona
The Creator SpaceTM tour commemorating the 150th anniversary of BASF, has already passed through Bombay, Shanghai, New York and São Paulo, and will culminate in Ludwigshafen in November. The program includes a summit of experts, creative 24-hour marathon, children’s workshops and artistic interventions Big-based data. Its aim is to build a network of collaborative knowledge, connecting people to generate ideas and innovative solutions.
BASF celebrates its 150th anniversary and to commemorate, has developed a program of activities being carried out in 2015 and aims to address the challenges of intelligent energy, food and urban life. Including tour SpaceTM Creator, who has already gone through several cities in the world, and arrive in Barcelona from 26 to 30 October. The meeting will take place at the Design Hub and aims to become a space of co-creation and innovation, reflection and knowledge to generate around one of the major challenges facing our society in food: the responsible food consumption.
From a participatory and multidisciplinary approach, 500 representatives from across the value chain, including customers, suppliers, employees, scientists, students, creative, administration, NGOs and other citizen groups, will work together to design creative proposals that respond to three specific challenges : promote the adoption of a healthy and sustainable diet among the Spanish population, increase the efficiency of water resources in the Spanish agricultural sector and reduce food waste and optimize the management of food waste.
Creator SpaceTM Barcelona has the support of the Mediterranean Diet Foundation, the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) within the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and Natural Environment of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Catalonia Waste Agency ( ARC).
His program includes as central two-day summit, attended by international experts; a marathon 24 hours of creativity and innovation; experimental workshops for children in collaboration with FabLab Barcelona and the Kids’ Lab of BASF program as well as artistic and cultural interventions based on Big-Data, which aims to promote awareness of the central issues of the meeting.
In 2050, there will be 9,000 million people worldwide. The great challenge of the population will maintain the balance between economic, environmental and social needs. Therefore, the ultimate goal of the meeting is to build a network of collaborative knowledge, connecting ideas and people, to help create innovative and sustainable solutions to address the future challenges of the food chain from a global perspective and participatory.
