The sector of the red fruits of the province of Huelva has been present in the Fruit Logística (Berlin, Germany), confirming his production like world-wide referent by his excellence and bets by the sustainability. In this last edition, Grufesa, Plus Berries, Doñana 1998, Onubafruit, Surexport, Euroberry, Interterra SAT, Frutas Esther, Special Fruit, Driscoll’s and FresRoyal have strengthened ties to consolidate the current European markets and have opened the possibility of starting new routes to export the berries from Huelva, whose demand and recognition in the market have been shown in the German fair.
The most important horticultural fair in the world has offered Huelva companies the possibility of consolidating business lines, especially with the main markets to which strawberries and berries from Huelva are destined, such as Germany, France and the United Kingdom. In the same way, they have maintained contacts to lay the foundations for new marketing lines, with a focus on markets in northern Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Companies have also taken advantage of their presence in Berlin to promote their new formats or varieties of products, such as Grufesa or Plus Berries, which have shown their packaging innovations and, in the case of the Cooperativa Moguereña, present the commercial launch of her new berry, the raspberry Ms. Ruby.
The manager of Freshuelva, Rafael Domínguez, has highlighted the intense agenda of meetings held by Huelva-associated companies present at the fair with different importers and marketers. In addition, he highlighted that the stand of the association of producers has been very busy and it has been attended to continuous demands of red fruits of the province, which shows the interest of distributors and chains because the red fruits onubenses reach new and various markets.
Freshuelva has taken advantage of their stay at the fair to hold different meetings with companies and entities interested in participating in the 4th Red Fruits Congress, which will be held in Huelva on June 20 and 21 and for which Freshuelva is preparing the program that the sector demands and with which to face the main challenges of present and future.
The visit to Huelva and the participation in the Congress of the representatives of Argentina in the International Blueberry Organization, in which the recently created Committee of Blueberries of Freshuelva has become part of, on behalf of the Spanish blueberry producers, have been outlined
In the same way, the manager of Freshuelva has also met with representatives of various supermarket chains, such as Migros (Switzerland), which belong to the Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture platform and which has already participated in the last Red Fruits Congress.
Important institutional support
The Freshuelva stand also counted with the presence of the prestigious German chef, Léa Linster, prescriber of the Interfresa campaign Strawberries of Europe in her country, and who participated in the institutional reception of the first day, which was also present the ambassador of Spain in Germany, Maria Victoria Morera Villuendas, who also wanted to show her support to the Huelva producers.
In this first meeting the president of the Diputación also showed his support to the sector, which for the seventh consecutive year supports the presence of Freshuelva in Fruit Logística and that, on this occasion, has personally wanted to support the commercial and promotional activity of the berries; and that was accompanied by the provincial deputy, Lourdes Martín. Likewise, the Andalusian Minister of Agriculture gave another example of his interest in the berries from Huelva participating in this reception accompanied by the Secretary General of Agriculture and Food, Rafael Peral; and the CEO of Extenda, Vanessa Bernard.
In the latest edition of Fruit Logística, Freshuelva has once again presented a new edition of the Red Fruits Congress, which was attended by the president of the Diputación de Huelva – institutional sponsor – Ignacio Caraballo; of the president of the Caja Rural del Sur -exclusive principal sponsor-, José Luis García-Palacios; and the Minister of Agriculture, Rodrigo Sánchez Haro, who announced that the Andalusian Government will be part, for the first time, together with the provincial institution and the City of Huelva, of the institutional sponsors of this important international berry event.
