Wine production in Castilla La Mancha will fall by 30%
When we are in full harvest, the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development of Castilla La Mancha, Francisco Martínez Arroyo, stressed that to the extent that the quality of the product is guaranteed to the final consumer, the sector and the farms themselves The wine growers.
Martínez Arroyo has indicated that the Valdepeñas Denomination of Origin is the oldest in Castilla-La Mancha and the most guarantor, where the regional executive works “hand in hand” with the sector, the 3,000 winegrowers, the 24 wineries and the current president of the Regulatory Council and Mayor, Jesús Martín.
The Government of Castilla-La Mancha will not “cease in the effort” to guarantee the quality of the wines that are made in the region, because “quality is the key to the wine sector.” A path already marked with the implementation of the Wine Traceability Control Plan from which “we will not deviate”, because “it is the right one”.
This was transferred by the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development, Francisco Martínez Arroyo, during his speech at the institutional event of the LXVI Fiestas de la Vendimia y el Vino de Valdepeñas in the new public space Bodegas A7, in which he participated together Mayor Jesús Martín, also president of the Regulatory Council of the Valdepeñas Denomination of Origin; the subdelegate of the Government in the province, María Ángeles Herreros or Ángeles Mora Fragoso, National Poetry Prize 2016, among others, and in which the recognitions and distinctions of this year have been delivered and the first wort offering has been made to the Patroness, the Virgin of Consolation.
As he stressed, “as we are able to guarantee very well to consumers that we produce excellent products and provide them with the necessary information, we will make the sector better and more profitable the vineyard farms”. A work, he said, is also carried out with the collaboration of the State Forces and Bodies, highlighting and thanking the work of the Civil Guard agents.
The DO Valdepeñas, the most guarantee
On that road for quality, he recalled, the Valdepeñas Denomination of Origin was shipped, which today is the “one that most guarantees the traceability of wine and gives more information to consumers”.
And, this quality figure, one of the nine denominations of wine from Castilla-La Mancha, is increasing every year “the commitment” with consumers in the same line. Its whites and reds already carry the variety on the back of the label and add it in the aging with which they were made; In one year, he announced, that information will be collected in the reserves and in two years, in the large reserves.
The Denomination of Origin Valdepeñas; It is currently made up of 3,000 winemakers and 24 wineries with whom the Government of Castilla-La Mancha works “side by side” through its Regulatory Council.
Thus, in his intervention he wanted to thank the work carried out by winemakers, winemakers, wine growers and all those who work in the wine sector “who give everything they have inside to make a large sector already Valdepeñas and its region”, where the future It is intimately linked to wine.
Less production, but with better wine
Now, the adviser recalled, it is the time of the harvest, which is expected 30 percent below last year’s production in Castilla-La Mancha, with between 20 and 23 million hectoliters. A campaign with a grape of higher quality and greater alcoholic strength and that, “if it does not distort”, will imply that “we will be able to sell the wine well” and the activity must be profitable for all links in the chain that follow that path of the commitment to quality, in which the Government of Castilla-La Mancha will be “vigilant”.
Contracts of sale between private wineries and wine growers, which reflect the price of the grape, or the 30-day payment from the moment the product is received, are aspects, Martínez Arroyo has finished, which already marks the regulations and must be met to guarantee The rights of wine growers.
