Trelleborg takes China Field Day to Success
On June 29th, Trelleborg successfully hosted its 2017 Field Day in Alaer, Xinjiang, a demonstration of its state-of-the-art technology that attracted the attention of more than 200 visitors, including agricultural professionals, tractor dealers and commercial media.
In the words of Andrea Manenti, Country Manager in China for agricultural and forestry tires in Trelleborg, “it is becoming crucial for modern farms to reduce fuel consumption and protect the soil. It has been an honor for us to show Xinjiang agricultural professionals how Trelleborg tires can protect the soil, reduce fuel consumption and increase efficiency. With Trelleborg’s high-end radial tire technology we would like to support Chinese farmers to establish sustainable agriculture with improved efficiency”.
For AGCO China Sales Director Qin Yafei, “with good tires a tractor will have a more efficient performance in the field. Trelleborg and AGCO are global partners and we will unite to deliver high-performance products to Chinese farmers”.
On his Field Day, Trelleborg performed multiple tests, including fuel consumption, efficiency, footprint, soil compaction and traction
Efficiency and fuel consumption tests were done with two Massey Ferguson 2404 tractors with a sub-meter three meters wide, with the same transmission ratio and Revolutions per Minute. One tractor was equipped with a standard radial tire 420 / 85R30 and 520 / 85R42, while the other tractor was equipped with Trelleborg 540 / 65R30 and 650 / 65R42 TM800 radial tires. On a 200 meter track, the Trelleborg TM800 radial tire tractor was 14 seconds faster and consumed 0.2 liters less fuel, equivalent to 10% fuel economy.
For the traction test, a John Deere 9330 tractor was towed by two Massey Ferguson 2404 tractors connected with a steel cable on a pulley, with the same gear ratio and Revolutions Per Minute. One tractor was equipped with 420 / 85R30 and 520 / 85R42, the other tractor with 540 / 65R30 and 650 / 65R42 TM800. The tractor with the widest tires came to the end 23.6 meters ahead of the other, showing that a wider contact area better transfers the power of the tractor to the ground, providing more traction.
