The world consumption of Olive Oil is maintained and exceeds in 13% to the production
With an initial estimate of around 3 million tonnes, world olive oil consumption for the 2016/17 wine year will exceed production by 13%, according to data from the International Olive Oil Council (IOC). This number consolidates a trend started ten years ago.
From the sector the 2017/18 campaign is expected to present more abundant than the previous one in which almost all the great producers receded in their harvest by climatic causes
The World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE), to be held at IFEMA Madrid on 21st and 22nd March 2018, is presented as the best opportunity to activate an increasingly interesting and global market that can give greater competitiveness to companies that come To him as a consequence of the strong presence of international operators.

According to data from the study prepared for Caja Rural de Jaén by the Spanish consultant Juan Vilar and the Uruguayan doctor Jorge Enrique Pereira, Italy remains the first consumer in volume with 610,000 tons, ahead of Spain with 528,000 tons, the United States with 285,000 tons , Greece with 186,000 tons, Syria with 141,000 tons, Turkey with 132,000 tons; Morocco, with 114,000 tons and France with 109,000 tons.
Other important global consumers are, in addition to Portugal with 78,000 tons, Brazil with 66,000 tons, United Kingdom with 61,000 tons, Algeria with 53,000 tons, Germany with 52,500 tons, Australia with 40,000 tons, Canada with 39,000 tons and Tunisia with 34,000 tons.
The closure of the production numbers, advanced in the study of teachers Vilar and Pereira, places it at the threshold of 2.7 million tons with 1.28 million tons for Spain, 220,000 tons for Turkey, 183,000 tons for Italy, 180,000 tons for Greece, 150,000 tons for Syria and 100,000 tons for Morocco and Tunisia.
WOOE

These figures are expected to be exceeded in the next edition of the World Olive Oil Exhibition, the only monographic meeting of the olive oil that exists at the moment.
