The last edition of the WOOE managed to bring together about 4,000 professionals linked to the olive sector
The largest exclusive international fair for olive oil, the World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE) has closed its seventh edition with an attendance of nearly 700 production companies and almost 4,000 professionals from the olive sector, HORECA, catering, distributors, buyers, brokers and media of more than 30 nationalities (United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Italy or USA). Business, new business opportunities, debate, trends, innovation and networking have been the keys to the success of the WOOE.
As a novelty of this edition, the presence of producers of various nationalities such as South Africa or Turkey, who participated representing 400 companies belonging to the Association of Exporters of Olive Oil and Table Olives of the Aegean of Turkey
Also the producers of the Northeast of Tunisia bet strongly for the World Olive Oil Exhibition participating through the Olive Oil North West Tunisia cluster (Kef, Jandouba, Siliana, Beja) whose objective is the promotion of the Chtoui variety.
Of course, the presence of important groups such as the DOP Baena, Bajo Aragón, Montes del Toledo, Montes de Granada, Campo de Calatrava, Sierra de Moncayo, Campo de Montiel, Sierra de la Alcarria, Aceites de Agricultura Ecológica de Aragón or Valle de Alcudia; In addition to the presence of the Interprofessional Oil of Orujo de Oliva (ORIVA) and producers from other regions such as Aragon, Catalonia, Valencian Community or Almeria were once again the strengths of this international monographic meeting.
The activation of the business of olive oil producers is the raison d’être of this meeting that also brings together marketers and packers, supply companies such as tasting oils, household goods or parcels, media with as much projection as Mercacei and machinery companies and auxiliary industry.
The World Olive Oil Exhibition consolidates once again its international prestige as a business fair, but also as an encounter dedicated to debate, trends and the key keys that govern the present and that are foreseen in the immediate future of this dynamic market, thanks to a program of tastings and conferences that has already become an essential appointment for all those with an interest in this sector.
Some of the most reputed international experts, such as Americans David Neuman (Evooguy.com); María Reyes (director of the oils category at KeHe Distribuidores); Luigi Caricato, director of Olio Officina, Abdellatif Ghedira, general director of the International Olive Oil Council; as well as national experts such as Rafael Jiménez Díaz, expert in the phytopathology of sustainable agricultural systems; Javier Perona, researcher of the CSIC; Teresa Lajo, responsible endocrine service Moncloa University Hospital; Juan Peñamil, CEO of Mercacei and José María Penco, director of the Evooleum International Competition, these last two were responsible for one of the most claimed activities of the fair in which the Award-winning Oils of the Evooleum Guide were presented and a tasting of the best olive oils in each country.
The last day of the fair closed with a meeting of investors of the olive oil sector with the Egyptian delegation headed by the president of the International Olive Oil Committee of Egypt, Adel Khairat, Dr. Emad Aly, of the Office of Development and Sustainability of the Ministry of Agriculture, and with the intervention of the Hon. Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Omar Ahmed Abdel Wahab Selim.
