The Irrigation Platform expects the new concessions to be a reality
The Platform in Defense of Irrigation of the County has shown the concern of the sector of the red fruits by the lack of water, reason why it continues working intensely to make possible his arrival. Thus, he has indicated that he hopes that the water of the 318 hectares and other underground concessions will be a reality to face the new agricultural campaign.
It has been one of the topics discussed in the meeting held between a commission of the Platform in Defense of County Irrigation and different socialist representatives of the central, regional, provincial and local Government. As explained by the president of the Platform, Cristóbal Picón, “we have placed on the table the fear of the farmer to the arrival of a new agricultural campaign without having resolved their main problems, such as the lack of water for irrigation and zoning. “
In this meeting, the subdelegate of the Government, Manuela Parralo, has pledged to deal with agility with the arrival of surface water for 318 hectares of the County, pending procedures for the approval of the Hydrographic Confederation of the Guadalquivir (CHG). In addition, the socialist representatives have reiterated to the Platform that “they are working tirelessly”. On this issue, the Socialists have pledged to close a meeting with the CHG to find a solution “as soon as possible” to those irrigated lands that continue without surface water. They have also recalled that, “soon, the technical commission of the transfer will meet, which will serve to start activating issues such as the unfolding of the San Silvestre tunnel”, necessary for the 20 hm3 transfer to reach the County.
As Picón has argued, the meeting has served to “put on the table that we need to continue taking steps, because every day that passes, problems for farmers who do not have water or suffer from a zoning problem increase.” “Ours is a profession that does not understand vacations or rest periods. In August the land is prepared for the next strawberry campaign, for example, and we need to know what will happen in order to plan the plantation. ”
Regarding the zoning, the socialist representatives have indicated that the powers correspond to the Junta de Andalucía and, of course, to the political groups that support the current Andalusian executive, however, “the electoral promises are to be fulfilled and each one there with what he said and so far he has not fulfilled ”.
