The first fruit and vegetable plant frozen from Europe
With an investment of 21 million euros and almost a hundred stalls work, the plant will be a benchmark in agricultura of the region and represents a revolutionary concept in the fruit and vegetable sector.
On May 28, the new La Unión Nice plant located in the municipality of Adra, Almería was inaugurated, with the presence of different authorities, among which was the Minister of Agriculture of the Junta de Andalucía, Carmen Crespo, who took a tour of the plant and learned more about the fruit and vegetable freezing project.
The technology used in the plant developed by La Unión and Nice Tech makes possible the commercialization of III and IV range frozen fruit and vegetable products through an innovative and revolutionary system that keeps fruits and vegetables intact when defrosted.
This project for the development of an industrial freezing process with NICE TECH technology is the result of 10 years of research and business collaboration with the University
Polytechnic of Catalonia to find a freezing process and perfect defrosting, 100% physical and without chemicals or additives, keeping intact all the organoleptic properties of fruits and vegetables.
The process allows that when the product is defrosted, all its vitality, nutrients, texture, water and flavor are preserved. Thus, its useful life is prolonged and the characteristics as freshly picked from the plant are maintained. This formula allows you to consume fruits and vegetables of the highest quality at any time of the year, without depend on seasonality with a shelf life of 3 years.
R&D that adds value

East method, spearhead of your investment in R&D, will allow the company market fruits and vegetables and distribute them to anywhere in the world allowing an international expansión unprecedented quality single and constant for 1,000 days.
Commissioning of the plant of Adra goes in line with the new strategy of La Unión, one of the main companies in the fruit and vegetable sector in Spain, in his bet for innovation and diversification of its products, distribution channels and markets where it operates with in order to be a European benchmark and innovation and competitiveness.
Also, with this project, the Adra municipality will become a prominent place in the world for install the first European plant for the production of fruit and vegetables frozen vegetables.
In addition to creation of almost a hundred positions work, project investment has amounted to 21 million euros co-financed by the two companies drivers. However, it is expected an upcoming investment of 15 million euros for the start-up of a second plant within 4 years.
