Syngenta launches its new fungicide ELATUSM against the main foliar diseases of cereal
Syngenta has presented its ELATUS EraTM distribution network in Spain, one of the major innovations planned for this year 2018. ELATUS EraTM incorporates a new active material, SOLATENOLTM. A new molecule with fungicidal action, with a broad spectrum against the main diseases suffered by cereal crops.
With this technological innovation the company, currently leader in plant health solutions for cereal, completes its catalog with a registered product for the control of the main foliar diseases that affect wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelled and triticale
In the words of Francisco Quiroga, responsible for the product portfolio of Syngenta in Spain and Portugal: “To develop the new active material, SOLATENOLTM, more than 140,000 different molecules have been studied. The full potential of the company’s R & D has been put in place for 12 years to launch a new product such as ELATUS EraTM. From the development in the laboratory, the tests in controlled chambers, passing then by microparcelas of essay, until arriving at the field trials with farmers, its registration and commercial launch, the challenge has been enormous and only a great company committed to innovation as Syngenta can deal with it successfully. ”
The presentation of the product highlighted two very important aspects of what is behind this launch: an important investment in innovation that involves developing a new active material and an extensive fieldwork that has meant being able to register it in Spain for a wide range of applications. crops and diseases.
Broad-spectrum and highly effective product
The new fungicide ELATUS EraTM stands out for its high efficacy in the field, which is determined both by its dual mode of action and its formulation
SOLATENOL ™ is combined with a second active substance, Protioconazole. This high quality formulation makes its application and effectiveness are currently the most effective in its class.
SOLATENOLTM bases its mode of action on the inhibition of the enzyme Succinate DesHidrogenase (SDHI), a method that has proven to be very effective against fungal diseases that are more harmful to cereals such as Septoria or Roya.
“ELATUS EraTM has proven in tests carried out throughout Europe (155 in wheat and 113 in barley since 2015), an excellent control of diseases that cause huge losses of production in all varieties of cereals, being always effective in different conditions of cultivation and types of soil
“The product offers outstanding levels of protection of the leaves, which provides a higher yield, quality of the grain and, therefore, a significant return on investment for the farmer“, says Carmo Pereira, responsible for the product for Spain and Portugal.
For Syngenta, this launch is the first of a series of technological novelties in crop protection planned for 2018. All of them have as a common link the commitment to innovation to offer sustainable global solutions to the main challenges facing farmers.
