Peru projects its internationalization in Asia Fruit Logística 2019
The most important fair for fresh produce in Asia serves as a platform to consolidate the export strategy of the Andean country in Asia.
Peru strengthens its position as a preferential trading partner in Asian markets with a participation of more than 250 entrepreneurs in Asia Fruit Logistica. The most important exhibition for the fruit and vegetable sector in the Asian continent, of which Peru this year acts as the first Guest Country of Honor, has started today with a very special inauguration.
Headed by the Director of Exports of PROMPERÚ, Mario Ocharan, the Peruvian authorities have welcomed the start of the opening ceremony of the fair. “The history of this fair is linked from the beginning to Peru. Being the Guest of Honor Country has been an approach by both parties, which culminates in this historic moment ”, confessed the Commercial Director of Asia Fruit Logistica, Wilfried Woolbold in the press conference prior to the start of the contest.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Peru in China, Luis Quesada, as well as the executive director of the Association of Agricultural Producer Guilds of Peru (AGAP), Gabriel Amaro, among other authorities.
The public and private sectors of Peru have been working together in the last 30 years to lead international exports in some categories such as asparagus, quinoa, avocado, cranberry or tangerines, among others. “With China we have been trading since 2009 thanks to the Free Trade Agreement, but we have advanced in new protocols for very important products for Peruvian production. Quinoa and pomegranate are the next Peruvian products that will reach this market, ”Mario Ocharan of PROMPERÚ said in turn.
With this differential advantage, Peru, which is known worldwide as a food producer with a high nutrient density and rich in antioxidants, continues to promote its worldwide Super Foods Peru campaign. His case of success has landed in Asiafruit Business Forum, one of the cycles of conferences that are held within the framework of the fair, as an example of a country that has managed to become a reliable supplier of Asian markets.
With the talk ‘From Peru to the world: producer spotlight’, Mario Ocharan, accompanied by Provid Director General, Carlos Zamorano, and Procitrus Director General, Sergio del Castillo, has reviewed the trajectory until reaching the current success. However, Peru is not satisfied with the success harvested and – it assures – sees opportunities “beyond China”, among which Singapore, Indonesia or Malaysia stand out.
