New extension standard for Iberian pig sector
During the meeting of the General Council of Agrifood Interprofessional Organizations, held on September 27th and which has chaired the Secretary General of Agriculture and Food, Carlos Cabanas, has been reported favorably on the extension of standard for the whole of the Iberian pig industry. This is the fourth extension of standard managed by the Interprofessional Association of Iberian pig (ASICI), which will last five years from its entry into force by publishing the corresponding ministerial order.
The actions proposed in this extension of standard focus on conducting promotional activities of Iberian to increase their consumption products, supporting research, development and technological innovation; as well as data collection industry to improve transparency and knowledge of production and markets. Also provide for the maintenance, development and improvement of the computer system of the sector (Web ÍTACA-TRIP) to improve traceability and quality of Iberian products and help fulfill the quality standard for meat, ham, shoulder and Iberian pork loin cane.
Moreover, the Council has positively informed the revocation of recognition of the Interprofessional Organization Swordfish, INTERESPADA, having been inactive for a continuous period of more than three years without developing any of the purposes set out in Article 3 law 3/41994 of 30 December regulating Interprofessional Agrifood Organizations.
