Expoliva receives the campaign of the Interprofessional to promote in Hospitality the use of oil properly packed
The Interprofessional “Aceites de Oliva de España” has taken advantage of the celebration of Expoliva 2017 to get the message of its advertising campaign “Peeerdona?:” In bars and restaurants, only the olive oils correctly packaged and labeled guarantee your quality, authenticity and all the properties intact to give you the best”. The objective of this information action is to raise awareness about the importance of requiring the establishment of olive oil to be served properly packaged and labelled.
This “Aceites de Oliva de España” campaign is aimed at the olive sector itself, as well as the different administrations and the rest of the society that these days is approaching the fairgrounds of Jaén, due to its sectoral fair more distinctive”, said Pedro Barato, president of the Olive Oil Interprofessional. “What is really bleeding is that in Jaén itself, in Úbeda, Cordoba, Lucena, Toledo or Cáceres, you continue to present the olive oils in the oilers. The bars and restaurants of the towns and cities that are most directly linked to the culture of olive oils should be the first to set an example by giving value to a unique product”.
The study that the consultant Madison developed in 2016 for Olive Oils of Spain on the application of the standard of presentation of olive oils in the hospitality rooms shows that there is still much work to be done in the main producing areas of the country
As will be recalled, 1,792 consumer surveys were carried out throughout Spain and 1,739 restaurants were visited.
Andalusian consumers are, along with the La Rioja, the least information about the norm. Only 7.1% showed some notions about this regulation, whereas in La Rioja they obtained a scarce 6.1%. Very far from the data obtained by the survey in Extremadura, Castilla y León, Murcia or Valencia, where it was crossed or exceeded 20%.
Andalusia also did not go well when consumers were asked to evaluate the degree of compliance with the standard in the catering establishments of their community. Andalucía achieved 59.5% almost 10 points less than Castilla-La Mancha or Galicia. Although that, much better than Madrid, community in which consumers estimated that the standard was met at 41.6%.
Andalusia best fights from the surveys and visits made to establishments. It was found that 84.3% complied with the norm, below 97% in Navarra or almost 90% in Madrid, but in light years of producing communities such as Extremadura (77.1%) or the worrying 71.6% Of Castilla-La Mancha.
Positive is the data referred to the handling of containers. Only 14.7% of the Andalusian consumers indicated that they had observed manipulated and refilled containers. Very far from almost 40% harvested in the Canary Islands. In this case, Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha obtain worse data, around 25%
For all that, Olive Oil from Spain has dedicated its stand in Expoliva to the campaign “Peeerdona?”, which throughout this year is developing a series of promotional initiatives, to end once and for all with the anomaly that represent unlabeled or improperly packaged presentations in the hotel industry. A space that tries to move the action to consumers administrations and, of course, the own restaurateurs. In addition, it allows the attending public to contemplate a selection of almost 250 references of extra virgin olive oils coming from all the producing areas of Spain.
The participation of Olives from Spain in Expoliva has gone further, showing at the fair its new promotional bid, through its participation in the TV series EntreOlivos, which issues Canal Sur.
Expoliva has also served as a showcase for the latest scientific advances. In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment and the Regional Government of Andalusia have promoted the Interprofessional of Olive Oil in the development of new instrumental methods complementary to the Panel Test, which have been addressed in the Forum of the Oil Industry, Technology and Quality, of the XVIII Scientific-Technical Symposium Expoliva. They have also had their space the development of lines in the field of the mechanization of the olive grove and advance of the future fields of work.
It should be remembered that the Interprofessional is currently the main driver of innovation in the olive and olive oil sector, which allocates more than 11% of its budgets
