The National Animal Health Service of Costa Rica (SENASA) is sending two inspectors to verify chile pork chain. Specifically, the mission will last for two weeks in which 5 slaughterhouses, a cold store and three farms will be visited.

According to Senasa, the purpose of the inspection mission is to verify the official health system in Chile, the food safety controls in the establishments that export to Chile.

The move comes as from the Chamber of Pork Producers of Costa Rica asked the Costa Rican government’s implementation of taxes or tariffs facing imports of Chilean pork because the product comes free of charges in Costa Rica since the beginning of the year, reports the Daily Nation.

On the other hand, the Central American country has started exports to Guatemala market. In particular it is a container of 20,000 kg of pork that is sold through supermarkets Walmart.
