Continental presents its innovations for the agricultural sector in EXPOLIVA 2019
The Continental technology company will be present for the first time at the International Fair of Olive Oil and Related Industries – EXPOLIVA, the most important international event for this type of cultivation, which will be held from May 15 to May 18 next in Jaén. During these days, the German multinational will expose its range of products and innovations for the agricultural sector to users in this region of Spain and to specialists who come to the show. Visitors will be able to see the Continental products on stand 31B of the Turbo Cádiz pavilion at the Provincial Fairs and Congresses Center of Jaén.
“Our intention is to continue approaching the farmer through the main fairs and events in the sector to show our innovations in the agricultural segment,” said David Alonso Travesí, commercial director of Continental Commercial Specitalty Tires in Spain and head of business development agricultural in this market. “EXPOLIVA is a unique opportunity to showcase our high-performance products and encourage farmers to try them on their farms and take advantage of all the advantages they provide,” added Alonso.
One of the brand’s priorities when it comes to developing the innovations and models that will be shown in the next edition of EXPOLIVA is to provide greater efficiency. “Having the right tires is vital for the productivity of agricultural machines and the quality of the work they do,” said the CST commercial director. “The work of our engineers, both in Germany and Portugal, is focused on finding innovative solutions for the current demands of farmers, machinery and the work that is done today.”
Presentation of the TractorMaster, Tractor70 and Tractor85 model
Continental will show in EXPOLIVA TractorMaster, Tractor70 and Tractor85 tires, which form the range of premium radial tires with which the German manufacturer covers the demands for tractors. A complete offer that has been developed since the company announced its return to the agricultural sector at the end of 2017.
The TractorMaster tire is characterized by its extreme robustness and durability, thanks to its innovations in technology and compounds, as well as 5% wider widths. The main novelty compared to the Tractor85 and Tractor70 models is the d.fine stud technology. This innovation has allowed to create a firm block, which allows an excellent grip. In addition, its surface, being 5% wider, makes the tire offer a greater number of driving hours and comfortable work.
The Tractor85 and Tractor70 models, like the TractorMaster, have a nylon shell with N.flex technology, which provides greater stability and resistance. Specifically developed, this innovative technology gives the tire a more flexible and resistant structure thanks to the fact that it incorporates a specially designed nylon with thousands of threads that spin in a spiral. This unique material makes the housing resistant to tearing, while making it flexible and elastic, ensuring that it returns to its original shape thanks to the rotation. The result is that, unlike conventional housings, prone to cracks and punctures, Continental’s new radial tires are noticeably more robust and resistant.
Another important aspect of Continental agricultural tires is the technology of the heel, with a core that ensures robustness and facilitates the assembly with a precise adjustment. German engineers have designed a heel composed of a single steel cable that wraps many times as if it were a garden hose. The result is a much more compact core than those composed of several rings, more robust, durable and with greater flexibility for a simpler assembly and an operation with lower pressure.
Production at Lousado: innovative state-of-the-art production center
In September 2017, Continental began the production of the Tractor70 and Tractor85 tires in the new plant built in the town of Lousado, Porto (Portugal). These facilities have been erected in less than two years, with an investment of 49.9 million euros. The factory is located next to another of the group where tourism tires are manufactured and which is one of the most efficient Continental centers. Together with the agricultural tire factory, a test facility and a research and development center have been built. These investments show the decided commitment of the German group to the agricultural sector and the passion with which they are carrying out this strategic project.
More than 70 years of experience in the production of agricultural tires
Continental returns to the agricultural sector driven by its specialty tire business area, where it has years of experience in the development and production of solutions tailored to each application and with a clear focus on the efficiency and benefit of the user. In addition, thanks to more than 70 years in the production and marketing of agricultural tires, the German manufacturer has acquired extensive knowledge in this segment. The first tire for an agricultural trailer was produced in 1928 and, until 2004, radial tires were manufactured in the Czech city of Otrokovice. This experience, and the great reputation of the brand, are some of the reasons that are generating so much expectation for the return to the sector.
