Cold reduces crop of blueberries in Argentina
Cold temperatures in Argentina affect the volumes that markets are getting from this country. It is expected that the pace of production take its normal course from week 43/44.
Late spring frosts are the main focus of Argentine producers, however, no one expected such a slow start to the season 2015. Additionally, continues latent threat of the Child and climate forecasts predict a rainy season. Consequently, the Argentine Blueberry Committee (ABC) auspicious forecasts doubt that the 37th week may come to pass, indeed, all the facts point to a 12% reduction of the volume of fruit on the 2014 season, which It means a total for Argentina of around 14,500 tons.
As far as prices are concerned, importers must resign to continue paying high prices for fruit from Argentina, but anyway, this fact in no way compensates producers of Argentina who suffer this circumstance lamenting the losses caused by hail, frost.
